Basil-Don
Congratulations to the Weirs who have now been announced as winners of the 161 million pound lottery jackpot, their win really represents everything thats great about this country, two obese scroungers both on disability benefit, they have said how difficult things have been for them recently but thanks to the welfare state they still found the cash to spend a tenner a week on lottery tickets and probably a ton each on food, lets hope they dont eat themselves into a early grave with their winnings. I must admit, BD, having seen them both tonight on the television, It didn't look to me as if they have been having trouble to find the money to buy food !!!!! They could do well making an advert for the NHS warning about the perils of obesity !!

Rhodes
I see that the Weirs made a £1 million donation to the Scottish National Party, the largest one off sum given to the Party in their history, it emerged that Mr Weir was an ardent SNP supporter and stood as a candidate in the 1987 General Election coming a distant fourth in his Ayr Constituency: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9170134/Alex-Salmonds-secret-tea-party-with-1-million-lottery-donors.html
Rhodes
Do we know what has happened to the Weirs who won 161 million on the lottery two years ago, I'm surprised the press haven't kept a closer track of their activities on a regular basis and to see what they give to Charities and good causes

Rhodes
Do we know whether the disfunctional Weirs are still together following their 161 million lottery win as a number of large winners have divorced or seperated recently haven't they, it shows that unlimited amounts of money doesn't bring hapiness! Rhodes
I see that the disfunctional Weirs donated a further one million pounds to the Scottish National Party in May bringing their total donations to the SNP and Yes Scotland Campaign to a staggering 5.5 million: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-27428095

Rhodes
I see that, incredibly, nearly 80% of donations to Scotland's pro-independence campaign over the past year came from the disfunctional Weir's who have donated over £2.5m to the Yes Scotland campaign since April last year and a staggering £5.5m to both the SNP and Yes Scotland Campaign. In a press article the Weirs rejected allegations that they were duped into giving the money and stated "as lifelong supporters of independence, it would be strange if we did not support the Yes Scotland campaign, no one bullied or targeted us". They went on to say they had given the money to promote the debate on Scottish independence, "Scots aren't going to vote based on how much money we have given to a particular campaign, they will make their decision based on being well-informed, that's why we made the donations we did to ensure there was the chance of an informed debate". Truly sickening!
Big J R
Not long to go now until the big Scottish vote !! I watched the Darling-Salmond debate on TV. What a pair of twonks !!! Rhodes
I wonder how the disfunctional Weirs are feeling following the no vote last Thursday, clearly their money didn't help the yes campaign and thankfully common sense prevailed in the end: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/scottish-independence/scottish-independence-no-campaign-receives-1m-more-in-campaign-donations-than-yes-9735514.html
