Locked Thread - question to the moderators

Locked thread nothing to do with me as well. I'll say one thing on the subject though.

Just an idea, but how about looking at it from a different perspective and maybe we should ask why certain players do things like moan to the ref and complain about things?

May seem odd, but i’m personally glad they do at times...

It’s not for the sake of it, it’s because they care – they want to win for the club and the supporters - they want to be winners on the pitch - they want to do well for Slough Town FC.

If people cast their mind back when we were signing some big-name players at non-league level a good few seasons back certain players seemed to turn up on the pitch, seemed to barely break into a sweat, not even looking like they were bothered at times. This bunch of players are very different. I'd much rather have this bunch.

The moaning is probably a sign of frustration in their performance or the teams performance when things don't go their way, like they did Tuesday. Holyport played well, frustrated us and cancelled us out for the most part. and put in some tough challenges, as we did as well. They probably deserved a draw in the end and our players were probably frustrated we did not do better against them.

We've kept the majority of the squad from last season. Have some very good players like Adam Martin, NBH back with us by the looks of it; adding to the quality we already have, so lets look forward together.

Like most things, there's always a line to be drawn and when you step over that line then it's plainly wrong and potentially damaging.

I'm all for players showing passion and the fighting spirit to do well for themselves and for the club but perversely they will do more damage than good for the club if they get themselves needlessly booked and sent off i.e. backchatting to the Ref.

On Tuesday it wasn't 'moaning at the Ref and complaining about things' that supporters complained about it was the lack of respect shown to Steve Bateman who was simply doing his job and received a volley of abuse for his efforts.

I certainly agree that we should all put Tuesday's events behind us now and look forward together because I think with the players we have and with the potential additions to the squad we have the quality and togertherness to give it a real go at getting promotion this season.

We've certainly got the quality but whether we get the togetherness only time will tell. Hopefully, with some of these criticisms,at least being recognised, they can prove that this raised matter is just a blip and nothing to worry about. I truly wish, for the players I mentioned, to prove me wrong.
