From Club Website

Paul Larke Despite recent media speculation the club would like to point out that Paul Larke at present still remains First Team Manager, everyone at the club feels very disappointed by Pauls inability to keep many promises he made when he was appointed First Team Manager and we sincerely hope that when he returns from his holiday he will be able to resume his duties in a more open and transparent manner .

I feel sorry for Basil-don who does so much for that club on his own and he has put his faith in someone who has blatantly let him down

Larkey cant stay on after that and the fact he was 'sacked' via text on his holidays.

I expect Basildon had something in the pipeline, that fell through and now they have gone back on themselves, however WOW, what a statement. Be a brave man to stay on after that.

Who runs the show over @ Basildon now. I know Rich does all the graft but is it still Dave Cusack and John Moran?

I know i havent been on here for a long time and by coming on here basildon loyalists will try and slate all that i say however it cant go unsaid that no matter how good or bad paul is or isnt or if he is or isnt keeping his promises, it should never be aired as it has been on the bas utd website, if only out of repect for him or the clubs reputation. How many promises can you keep in 1 month?

I agree with you Piper. Not sure why anyone would put that out on their website for all to see.

What happened at Basildon?

Unfortunately, Basildon United are acquiring a habit of offering managers the post and then sacking them a couple of weeks later. The way that the club is set up, there can never be a return to the glory days of old and they will always languish in the ESL. There can be no hope of winning the league and promotion so I can't honestly see what promises Larkey has broken. However he might have promised the European championship within 10 years but I feel that is a tad unlikely.

In a half page spread in the Echo today garnered from news on a "fans forum" and the club's website, they report:-

"And things seemed to be going quite well for him at the Gardiners Lane club. Last month he said that he was "over the moon" with the quality on show at an open trial day, and that came shortly after he announced he had recruited former Southend United player Frankie Banks as a coach. Larke said he had been working overtime to assemble his new squad, and he was confident of securing a top half finish for the Bees this season."

I sign off by saying that with the right people in charge, the club could go places.
