Windsor Observer

I don't know maybe its just me but it seems the Windsor Observer is either anti Windsor FC or anti Keith Scott. The latest article on the website states "FOLLOWING the signings of 'unique' former Royalists Windsor Football Club manager Keith Scott" - Edit - ok I now realise unique i the term Keith scott used... Doh...

Does anyone else notice this? Surely a local paper is meant to get behind local clubs and institutions? It makes no odds to me as I'm not going to stop going to see my club, I may stop getting the observer however as it seems some of the opinions voiced in the sports section are those of an individual and not balanced at all by those of us that just want to get behind our club.

In my experience most of the people I speak to want to leave the past there now and get on with the future, unfortunately it seems there is a minority of discontented people who are shouting louder than the majority. No one is happy about what has gone on... but lets look forward now.

Thoughts?

Scott said last week:

"I will talk with a lot of the players that were here with me at Windsor & Eton because they are unique.

"They are unique because they went a long time without any money, without being paid. They are unique people, they are special people, and they are players who I respect immensely."

The Observer is just perpetuating the phrase this week if somewhat unnecessarily and (maybe even) childishly. I wouldn't know whether that displays an anti-Scott feeling on their Sports Desk or just unimaginative journalism...

Yeah I did realise that after and amended my post. I guess maybe you are right anti is a bit strong it just doesn't seem at times like they report on Windsor or are positive like they used too be. Which in a time when we need all the support and backing we can get is a little frustrating.

Why should they blindly follow? I would hazard a guess that some of the companies Windsor owed money are also clients of the paper. Like it or not, Windsor FC will be judged a fair bit on the past of the old entity. They have a lot of bridge building to do.

Grow up Rother. A forum is a place for opinions. You don't like it when anyone's differs from yours. I'm afraid that's just tough.

Joel. I phrased it badly, apologies. What I meant was why should they 'get behind' the new Windsor. Same sentiments apply.

That's because you're the sort of person that can't acknowledge differing opinions without resorting to very silly insults

All of my posts offer my opinion. Some are positive, some constructive.

Just because not everyone buys into the notion that Windsor are a brand new team and should be followed without question and without thought for people wronged in the past, doesn't make them wrong.

Back to the thread please children ;-)

Joel is right that there are certain opinions that appear, shall we say partisan, rather than objective. But like this message board people have opinions. National papers don't always support the current government and individuals normally have their own opinion anyway.

It would be nice to get full support from local papers for the club, but Fat Boy is right that some may still feel they are owed something from the "Club" be it the old entity or the new entity, and will be bitter towards it. It will take time for the club to get over it but I think we have enough fans getting behind the club to make it a success.

I would say the future is positive, the papers will support us as the season goes on (as long as we can stay away from a war of words with a paper) and I genuinely believe in a year's time the clube will be in a good place, promotion or not!!!

So lets keep it positive

I'd like to think you find me rude, arrogant and abnoxious...... (sic)

Immature and foolish perhaps.
