.....introduce myself and say hi to everyone. I support Guernsey FC ( obviously ! )

 

I really looking forward to the new season and I can't wait for the first match. As i've said in other threads you will get a warm welcome when you come to Guernsey.

 

I'm not sure how high we could go up the league pyramid but we have won the island games twice in recent years.

 

When we won the Island games in 2003 v Isle of Man the crowd was 6,000

 

Our latest yearly game against our old foes Jersey was around 4,000 I seem to recall

 

So attendence for our first CCL game ? I will guess at 2,000 but it could be as high as 4,000

 

Could we win the league ? well we're going into the unknown so after about lets say 10 games we will know our level.

 

I can't wait for our first game ! good luck to all teams and have fun when you visit us

There's a lot of interest in Guernsey FC so you could be looking at a sell out. A load of ground hoppers will be making there way over there at some point and many of them may try and get to the first competetive game although some have already said they'll be going a bit later on in the season.

Seriously, the club may want to make contingency plans just in case more than 5000 try to turn up for the first game. It's better to be prepared and let down when 'only' 2000 turn up than not prepared at all.

I don't know if there's a record anywhere of the highest ever attendance in the CCL. It'll be a game involving AFC Wimbledon so it may be easy to find......

Welcome GD you'll have to excuse Kroons he is a fan who is on the turn after he was promised his local club would be in the Conference and are still in the CCL, when I managed Farnham we had close on 5000 watching us at AFC.

I think the only way we might break the leagues attendance record is if it was down to the last game and it was a promotion decider. Then we would get capacity I'm sure.

 

Its all into the unknown for us so its going to be exciting to see how many turn up.

 

This has nothing to do with football but we had a music festival last featuring Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream, Example etc and the crowd was 7,000 on the Sunday ! so that gives you an idea of the sort of crowds we can attract to events on the island even though the population is small.

 

As for me attending away games. Unfortunatly due to having a young I can't see me being able to attend many away games . But I will be trying to !
