Knaphill's trip to Guernsey

I am organizing the travel arrangements for the big day. If any-one on this forum is interested in coming over I would be delight to assist in helping out with the details. The more that we can book the better the prices will be. I am speaking to the Travel Company tomorrow afternoon. Please let me know if you want to be included.

Knappy,knowing that your one of the best organised Clubs in the League,how does it come about that you have to contact the Travel Company,surely Guernsey should be doing this for you.As another point,if you book you will surely have to pay upfront yourself as a Club,then get recompense from Guernsey.Will you be travelling from Southampton,as J.G.posted on another thread it is much cheaper than Gatwick,especially as you said your Club may well stay an extra day.

Surely Guernsey only arrange the travel for the party of 20 that make up the playing/management squad etc?

 

Did you ever think Smudge (before giving it a bit of Guernsey bashing....as that's how it comes across) that maybe Knapmeister is looking at travel arrangements for fans, parents etc that would be looking to go, as I'm sure there will be plenty of Knaphill people interested in going to what is a pretty big game in their history?

Guernsey bashing,far from it.Fact Aurigny are a Guernsey based company that I am sure Guernsey F.C. have contacts at.Will they be paying full whack,I doubt it.Whereas Knaphill will be dealing with Aurigny only once,hence no discount.Same as the Hotel Company.In fact it could save Guernsey money as well,sure they would get a bigger discount for 30 than they would for 20.I know there loaded round Knaphill way but £200 to go and watch a game of Football is to much in my book.

How would paying for 30 people instead of 20 save you money? It would only make it cheaper per head, not for the total as you would still have to pay out for an additional 10 people!!

Maths your strong point at School Jurgs?20 x100=2000,30 X 80=2400,20 X 80=1600 saving Guernsey F,C 400,10 X 80=800 saving 200 for supporters.Plus the airline works a reward system.Why would Guernsey arrange travel for fans as well,in liason with C.C.L. Clubs this would show a gesture of goodwill on their behalf,and as the airline is on the Island much easier for all concerned.

Apologies as I thought you meant Guernsey FC paying for all 30 people to travel rather than the 20 they have already agreed. What happens if a club doesn't take any supporters (highly likely), then you are back to sqaure 1. I can't imagine an airline would agree any discount based on an "assumption" that a visiting club would be bringing 10 extra people.

 

Is them paying for 20 of the clubs players etc not goodwill enough for you? Anyone would think you are trying to get a free trip out there

Not a 'moody' question, but will you be aiming to get at there at all this season Smudge? Just asking as I know you like to get about and watch games and with your contacts I didn't know if you might be going out with someone like Farleigh?

Smudge does not do freebies,even when Offered, everywhere I pay.Including Croydon,Farleigh,Warlingham,where I have good friends.The reason all clubs need every penny they can get,so my few pounds helps.As for going to Guernsey,yes I will pay them a visit,but am wary of booking early,which is required to get cheap seats,in case of the game being postponed.

I didn't start this thread for a general rant about the pros and cons of the situation.

 

Guernsey have been great, the travel company have been fantastic and can be contacted at::

The preparations are moving ahead smoothly and I will be producing a report for the CCL regarding the trip.

 

I would be grateful, on behalf of our Geurnsey hosts, that there is no more speculation regarding costs etc. If you want to go over please email Mandy, she will be delighted to assist.

We understand that the game will be filmed by ITV & BBC. We already have 9 people travelling in addition to the club 22. All support is more than welcome.

Smudge, if you book throught the official travel company (see my last post for the email), they will transfer your flight for another time. The chances of matches being postponed due to the weather is very slight, if a pitch is unplayable, two further grounds have already been identified and approved.
