The hardest and the wimpiest.

Nicked this idea from the Hayes and Yeading forum, thought this would be a good thread for our forum.

Who do you think have been the hardest player/players and the softest players to wear the Slough shirt over the years. On the Hayes website, they mention Jamie Jarvis,Nathan Bunce,Laurie Craker and Nick Roddis among the hardest.

On the wimp front, they mention Marc Cranham and our own Simon Martin among others.

I would say Tony Dell - hardest and Bobby Dell- softest would be a good shout. Steve Thompson was one of the most talented, fairest of players but boy,did he pack a punch for a little bloke. Can't remember which game but someone did a right dirty tackle on him and he knocked the offending player clean out.Best punch I've seen at a football game and thoroughly deserved.

Darren Anderson and Wilko and Eric Young are other contenders for hardest.

Eamonn O'Connor,Andy Sayer and Tommy Langley were pretty poor tacklers.

Any other suggestions?

Mark Pye was a pretty tough midfielder who also apparently kicked his manager (at Enfield) George Borg in the testicles, which pretty much earns him legend status. Other names spring to mind such as Neil Catlin, Andy Clement

Had plenty of powderpuff players over the years, but I'd reach back to Morrys Scott, our lanky Welsh striker from the old Conference days. Like Peter Crouch, but without the presence and strength of his shot. Also, James Lambert; the only thing he tackled was another round at the bar.

Graham Roberts has got to be one of the hardest.I remember Mark Hawthorne saying in the Non-League Paper, about players and managers he'd worked with, and said that Graham Roberts didn't just throw teacups up against the wall,he threw the players up against the wall ! lol !

Mark Pye was a very strong, talented passer of the ball in midfield but a total loony tune.If he had a brain, he would have probably made it into league football. Still managed to become a England Semi-Pro,though.

Thought you're a bit harsh on Morrys Scott and James Lambert. Morrys became a cult hero that year in a very poor Slough side.Did actually score a few goals with his head unlike Peter Crouch ! James Lambert, everyone raved about when he played professionally for Reading. We only saw the shadow of him here.

What about Ryan Williams 'The Crab' or Stuart Hemsley, the left back. Both of them were naff.

Softest - Peter Lowen (never made a tackle!)
