Are they still so very strict about 'drinking-up' time ?

I know when I was last there, (admittedly, I was staying on the Grand Rock side of the Island), a couple of girls were arrested some ten minutes after the official drinking-up time, whilst sitting on a wall outside the pub in St Peter Port.

..... and you couldn't get a drink in a pub on Sunday unless you were also having a meal.

..... and you couldn't buy petrol on a Sunday, either, (though I DID have a contact !)

Lol ! all of thoses things above we're true ! but we have moved away from the dark ages ! well sort of !

You can now buy petrol on a Sunday, You can now drink in a pub on a Sunday without a meal, Pubs open until after midnight.

What part of that beautiful Island are you on, GD ??

My relatives were in St Peter Port.

I live in St Sampsons

Bit quieter than St Peter Port.

My aunt and uncle were in St Jaques Road.

St Jacques was the only pub on the island i hadn't been to until a few months ago.

As a newcomer to the Forum and in fact this division, I thought I'd finally come on and introduce myself after several months of lurking and generally seeing what the reaction was to Guernsey's arrival on the NL scene. You might be wondering what interest an exiled Midlander and fan of a Conference team might have in the CCL. I'm half Guern (my Mum came over when she was 18 to got to college, met my Dad over here and has never lived there since, although I still have quite a lot of family on the island). I was just wondering from the Guernsey lads on here, and anyone else who might be in the know, what sort of a support are GFC expecting for away games? Are they expecting a fair few exiled Sarnians to come along or will there be a fair following flying over? I'm thinking I might take in a few Guernsey away games when Hayes are away - CB Hounslow away on the 10th Sept looks a distinct possibility. Is there anyone in the Forum who may also be there - Hounslow fans included? Hope to see some of you this season. Cheers...

One other question - how come GFC were not in the draw for the FA Vase this season?

My belief is that new Clubs need to established for a season before they can enter the Vase (nb: before someone asks Windsor are a reformed Club, as opposed to New ). You can then seek entry into the FA Cup after 1 season in the Vase.

I always thought the club just needs to be established before the cut of date for entries (April 1st).

Windsor FC were formed (or reformed) in March so were able to apply.

I don't know when Guernsey FC were officially formed as a club side but the FA gave them the go-ahead to apply to join the pyramid on April 12th which was too late to apply for FA competitions for this season.

There were six applications this season from teams who weren't playing in leagues last season. As a f'rinstance one of them, Erith & Dartford Town, were formed at the back end of 2010 after a fall out with Erith Town and they've been accepted into the Vase.

Literally a minutes walk from my late Uncles house. We used to pop in there for a lunch-time drink when I was staying.
