One thing is for sure we, Knaphill FC, will be flying out on Friday evening, either 6pm or 7.30pm flight. We would fly back from Guernsey at 6pm Saturday as we are scheduled to kick off at 1pm if you fly in on Friday night. If you fly in on Saturday morning you are scheduled to kick off at 3pm. However, our chairman is looking into the cost of a further night in Guernsey at the club's cost and to fly back Sunday evening but with this though is a late flight arrival back at Gatwick at either 10.20pm or 11.20pm not ideal if you have to get up for work early on Monday.

Despite some peoples thoughts on not trusting the players to go out on the lash, we have our own rules on that which we will obviously keep in house, after all we are going out there to win a game of football and not on a jolly, that can be done if we stay an extra night!

It will be interesting to see what other clubs do!

No flights leaving Guernsey arrive that late at Gatwick Airport. The last flight out of here is 6:00pm and it gets in at 7:00pm. Your onward journey might of course mean you get in as late as you suggest. There is no reason you would need to take the last flight back though as there are 5 flight a day from Guernsey to Gatwick with Aurginy. Here is this coming Sunday's schedule for your info.

Interesting that the flight takes 55mins/1hr,sure our reps said 40 mins, must of been downwind.Or the time includes clearance from the airport?

Do you not fly that often Smudge? The times that flight companies show are rarely that accurate and 20-30 mins is usually added on to ensure people arrive at the gate in plenty of time.

Why do you get so defensive about the arena Smudge- Yes i'm sure there are backroads known to locals but in general the whole area is a traffic nightmare. The m25 to junction 6 is rarely clear for night games

Reason I get defensive of the Arena,is that Croydon Municipal,Croydon,in 2 Seasons were only late once for a warm up at away games, due to a 6 car pile up on the M3 .Yet many times teams moan about the traffic congestion when going to the Arena,is this because of their bad planning beforehand,or no planning at all.Just type in the postcode, thats good enough attitude. As I have said many times,Hooley,Coulsdon,Purley,Purley Way,Croydon,is the way the sat nav sends you, take their advice you will always be late.

Not really about travel to guernsey but thought i would add to the thread.

I am currently sitting in a bar in guernsey after having to travel over for work. Visited Footes Lane today and the pitch and facilities look impressive, especially for div 1 standards, although I do hate athletics tracks!

The local paper have a big back page write up to do with the first few games of the season and, taking to people, the island seems to be eagerly awaiting the start of the season.

I flew from Southampton today and, even though the talks are flights from Gatwick, this maybe the better option. Flight time was 25 mins and you only really had to get to the airport 45 mins before the flight!!!! You do need passport or driving license though, which may be interesting with younger players that have never been abroad!!!

As far as drinking before the game goes, I wouldn't be too bothered as the place isn't exactly Blackpool, so there isn't too much of a draw to go out!!! Having said that, if you decide to do a Saturday night, I am sure you could make enough entertainment for yourselves!!!

You will have a brilliant night out in Guernsey on a Saturday night. Our pubs are very close together ( some next door to each other ! lol ! ), we are very friendly win or lose on the pitch and we have a choice of 3 night clubs

Are they still so very strict about 'drinking-up' time ?

I know when I was last there, (admittedly, I was staying on the Grand Rock side of the Island), a couple of girls were arrested some ten minutes after the official drinking-up time, whilst sitting on a wall outside the pub in St Peter Port.

..... and you couldn't get a drink in a pub on Sunday unless you were also having a meal.

..... and you couldn't buy petrol on a Sunday, either, (though I DID have a contact !)
