B.J.R. not worth the effort really, but I will. How can Eastside Urchin criticise the Arena, people in glass or was that DOUBLE GLAZED houses should never throw stones,Hornchurch is a great ground to visit I'm sure,If my memory serves me right, another pitch surrounded by a running track. As for N.L.N. do not know why he complains about the Arena, think they are unbeaten their at all levels.Unlike their trips to more user friendly Clubs where they hardly ever win, hence their League position. As for NICE GUY hardly a day goes by without him winding someone up.The blame in getting to the Arena lies firmly at the doors of the Sat Nav.Companies,A.A.,R.A.C.who for some reason only use main roads.Which if followed lead you from 1 traffic jam to the next traffic jam.Croydon Arena is one of the best grounds to get to by public transport though.I was thinking of posting a permanent post regarding the best route from the M.25 to the Arena for all Clubs to take,if there was enough interest.Let me know if you are interested.

One thing is for sure we, Knaphill FC, will be flying out on Friday evening, either 6pm or 7.30pm flight. We would fly back from Guernsey at 6pm Saturday as we are scheduled to kick off at 1pm if you fly in on Friday night. If you fly in on Saturday morning you are scheduled to kick off at 3pm. However, our chairman is looking into the cost of a further night in Guernsey at the club's cost and to fly back Sunday evening but with this though is a late flight arrival back at Gatwick at either 10.20pm or 11.20pm not ideal if you have to get up for work early on Monday.

Despite some peoples thoughts on not trusting the players to go out on the lash, we have our own rules on that which we will obviously keep in house, after all we are going out there to win a game of football and not on a jolly, that can be done if we stay an extra night!

It will be interesting to see what other clubs do!

No flights leaving Guernsey arrive that late at Gatwick Airport. The last flight out of here is 6:00pm and it gets in at 7:00pm. Your onward journey might of course mean you get in as late as you suggest. There is no reason you would need to take the last flight back though as there are 5 flight a day from Guernsey to Gatwick with Aurginy. Here is this coming Sunday's schedule for your info.

Trebor very helpful information,do the number of flights out vary during the year, also could you post outward flight times for us supporters.Would supporters be able to use any Guernsey Contacts to get discounted prices from AURIGNY?

Interesting only 2 flights out a.m. on Saturday mornings leave 08.30am arrive 9.35am cost £72------leave 11.50am arrive 12.55pm.cost £86,would this be return cost? Supporters could get the early flight as this saves £14,but as the Players etc.do not have to pay, would the later flight give adequate time preparation wise,me thinks not. There is a flexible fare of £204.

Those prices are single prices. It's expensive now because its short notice. If you put in a date for September for example you can find flights for £100 return, times permitting.

My advice is to book up early.

Yes please. Croydon is the only ground I need to borrow a satnav from work for. That probably doesn't take me along the best route. I used to go to Palace quite a bit and worked out a great little route with somewhere decent to park but it's so long ago I've forgotten it. I've only driven to The Arena once or twice so it's not set itself into my memory yet.

I've often wondered if going up the A3 to Tolworth and then through Sutton is the best way to go. I've gone that way to Croydon Athletic before but I don't know if it's the best way.

Not really about travel to guernsey but thought i would add to the thread.

I am currently sitting in a bar in guernsey after having to travel over for work. Visited Footes Lane today and the pitch and facilities look impressive, especially for div 1 standards, although I do hate athletics tracks!

The local paper have a big back page write up to do with the first few games of the season and, taking to people, the island seems to be eagerly awaiting the start of the season.

I flew from Southampton today and, even though the talks are flights from Gatwick, this maybe the better option. Flight time was 25 mins and you only really had to get to the airport 45 mins before the flight!!!! You do need passport or driving license though, which may be interesting with younger players that have never been abroad!!!

As far as drinking before the game goes, I wouldn't be too bothered as the place isn't exactly Blackpool, so there isn't too much of a draw to go out!!! Having said that, if you decide to do a Saturday night, I am sure you could make enough entertainment for yourselves!!!

Which pub are you in? Week nights are notoriously quiet over here but St Peter Port does get a bit livelier at the weekends.

In St Peter Port by the roundabout with the big sail on it, not sure of the name, that would mean leaving my pint and going outside to look!!!!

Or you could look at the menus :) I'm guessing you're in The White Hart..

I'm looking forward to going to Guernsey to see if I can pick up a copy of the Stone De Croze book. I bought a copy (well, had a copy bought for me cos I was 8) when I was last on the island in 1977 but it's gone missing. It was well good.

The only problem with booking your flights early is if the game gets postponed your stuffed!!
