As the season approaches .......

The start of the season grows nearer and regardless of the "off the field" activities, I for one am thinking this could be a really entertaining season for Windsor.

With Bully & Ryan joining the club it sends the right signals to other players considering joining the club that we have ambition and can be seriously competitive, if we can sign even another 2 or 3 players of this sort of quality our chances of being a top 3 club are very good.

However I don;t think we can underestimate the opposition at this level, for most games the pressure will be on the Windsor team and other teams will inevitably raise their games, but we have seen this before (and Keith was in this position last time as well).

Looking on the CCL website they have already go us pinned as one of the teams to beat, lets hope we can live up to our billing.

this could be a really good one.........................

There are two separate issues, on field and off the field. From the signings we have and the names being bandied about, on the field looks very promising. Rob and Ryan could play at a higher level so their experience and ability will be invaluable, and if it attracts other quality players then it can only be good.

The CCL is not going to be a walkover, i don't believe any fans think it will be, but we do expect to be up there if we continue to recruit players of this quality. I wonder, would you prefer a vase win or a promotion. i would prefer a visit to Wembley having seen us get so close in '81

We just need the season to start and things to happen. I for one am going to get behind the team, I don't agree with some of the decisions that have been made but the season starts very soon so if you are going to come along to watch I would advise you do the same and be positive for the sake of the team.

I know this subject has been done to death but I just really hope whatever the budget is (I don't claim to have any knowledge of what it might be) that it is sustainable and is within the confines of what Windsor FC can reasonably afford at this moment in time. If that means we don't have a side challenging for the title then so be it, I'll just be happy to watch some football again. You don't necessarily need a successful football team to have a successful football club. Paulton Rovers are a good example of this.

The new signings so far sound promising and if some of the rumoured signings come to fruition then we will have a pretty good team for this level. Alas we're be a big scalp for some of the other teams (regardless of budget) and every game will no doubt be a battle. No team has a divine right to win games at any level, no matter how good you are (or think you are) you have to match the opposition for effort first and foremost.

It will be interesting to play in the Vase again. A good run in that would be a boast for the clubs finances and for morale is general. I would imagine a lot of step5 clubs will probably fancy their chances though, it’s a notoriously tough competition to do well in.

All in all in a ideal world I would settle for a top 5 finish in the league and a bit of run in the vase.

However come next May I'll just be delighted for the club to finish the season and build on whatever happens this coming season into the season after.
