Just a coincidence??

Recommended Posts

I noticed that after Enfield 1893 being refused admission to the Ryman League the other week on the grounds that the stand at their new ground at brimsdown had gone to Enfield Towns new ground and they hadn't got a new one in time to replace it,that Enfield Town Fc are still allowed to play in the Ryman despite their ground not being finished.Surely it's not right to deny one club but to allow another to carry on in the Ryman League even though their ground is far from complete??

Surely it is no coincidence that Enfield town have on their board a Ryman committee member???

I think you are looking for something that is not there , Rob. It cant take too long to put together a stand once it has been transported to new ground. As it goes up bit by bit, some covering will be available till its built in full.

Enfield Town are starting the season at Cheshunt (groundshare agreed some time ago) until such time as the upgrades to their new ground are completed. Enfield 1893, despite knowing that Enfield Town were leaving and taking the stands with them, didn't do anything about it until it was too late.

Further to that, your comment about the fact Enfield Town have a director on the Ryman League board has nothing to do with it. The FA make ground grading decisions, not the Ryman League.

SteveR, some of those officials conduct ground grading inspections for the FA. They are probably more heavily involved in the approval/rejection process than any other person or committee. And there are undoubtedly double standards as a result.

I have a friend who works for the FA,has done for over 15 years, obviously he shall remain nameless but some of the stuff he tells that goes on under the name of the FA is quite frankly worrying.

He told me once that one of the top jobs in grass roots developments was given to someone who had previously worked as a broker in the city, lost his job about 4 years ago and lived next door to one of the top people in the FA,who gave him an interview and took him on in that role. The bloke had no interest in football until his son played got into his local non league side in 2006 (yes at the time of the interview had followed football for 1 whole year).6 months later he was relieved of his duties as he was blatantly incompetent in the job.
