Shame, but bound to happen sooner or later. A man of his experience should not really be a no. 2 anyway. Good luck Dave and thanks for your input last season.

Best of luck to Dave Anderson. He's going to have a hard job achieving the success that David Howells has had on a limited budget at Harrow but I for one, hope he's successful. Slough Town FC are certainly going to miss his expertise, character and all the plugs for our team on the Non-League Show !

I hope, too, that Steve Perkins is,at least, considered as a replacement. As I think he would definitely be an asset to our management team.

Excuse my French but b*ll*cks!!!

I knew things were going too well but good luck to Dave, top bloke but no one is bigger than the club and football is a forever revolving door!!!

As said in a previous thread, I would hope that Steve Perkins is Dave's replacement, with Dave Woozely and Shaun Byrne offered player coach roles!!!!

Also hope that Bateman has made an agreement with Dave Anderson that he can't come sniffing around any of our players, that would really rile me!!! Players like Sweeney, Woozely, Murphy, Sinclair, Coyne and Burnell would be comfortable in the Conference South let alone the Ryman Premier...

Anyway, onwards and upwards even if I do feel as gutted as I did after the play defeat at Hitchin!!!

It was fairly obvious that he wouldn't be around till the end of the season as he is very well known in non-league football and was always going to be offered a job at a good team if one was created. He has helped us quite a bit and brought in a few good players.

It is probably a good thing he has left now at this point in the "season" as it gives steve bateman a long time to find a replacement (if he hasn't started doing so).

Like most people i wouln't be surprised to see perkins come in to take daves role.

Good luck to Dave Anderson hopefully he will be able to send us a few more good players =]

First of all good luck to Dave Anderson and thanks for last season. Did an excellent job and will be missed at Slough. Also thanks to Bates for the two updates today when were not even back in pre-season yet.

I'd be hugely suprised if Dave took any players with him after accepting the Harrow job. He's done all the hard-work with Bates to set the squad-up over the summer and I would imagine he'd like to leave that foundation of what he's helped set-up at the club and watch our progress throughout the season.

As for the assistant position. I'm kinda with what Ian says on the other thread. Both Woozley and Perkins are excellent candidates and I think it's great Woozley is coaching and playing as I think he has plenty to offer in both roles, but what worries me is if they are both playing who does Bates turn to on the bench to go through things with?

With NBH, Woozley and Brown I should imagine Perkins will only hve a bit part on the playing front next season.

Harrow, limited budget, don't make me laugh,Rocky baptiste don't come cheap lol

Oh bloody hell, still he did say say that if a manager position came up he would think about it, he' d be daft not to really.

From a selfish point of view I am not happy, BUT I know you dont read the web site Mr. Anderson but if you do happen to glance this way and see what we think I am very happy for you and hope all goes well.

Good luck and best wishes

Only time will tell, of course, but Steve Bateman's two previous assistant managers have both been manager's previously,in their own right. So Steve may prefer to bring in someone proven in management, who knows how to change games at a drop of a hat, rather than a novice who's learning the game/management side. Steve Perkins is also a teacher,so may not have the time to commit fully to the assistant manager role. So a coach role may be better suited for him.

In my opinion,Dave Woozley should start as captain this year [ on a see how it goes basis] and help out with a bit of coaching but we shouldn't bog him down with too much, as we need him doing the business on the pitch rather than off it, and also he hasn't been at the club that long to be totally commited to Slough as a club, yet. Sometimes I think players should be at a club for at least,a year before foisting the top roles on them,as sometimes we overlook worthier candidates already in the team. Given Dave Woozley's experience, you can see why he's being offered these things, from my perspective we have at least, three other players who have the potential to have the skipper's armband and by having it,may actually raise their game. The three that come to mind are Adam Logie,Nathan Bowden Haase and Paul Coyne.

3spirit, Paul Coyne as captain???? You've changed your tune hahahaha

I was thinking last night, about who Bateman has worked with previously, Bob Dowie would be an unbelievable choice for Assistant Manager if we could get him, he was at a few of our games last season....

Well, Cookham Rebel, the reason I named Paul Coyne is that I know he's definitely not going anywhere! and looks like being an ever present. If this is to be the case, then I think he would/could change some of his less-than appealing ways, if he was given responsibility.

However,as you all know out there,he's not a favourite of mine, though I'm not totally blinkered, as to not recognise when he plays well. That's why he frustrates me because he can do it well when he wants to.

Bob Dowie is a good shout,Cookham R, you've not got some more of your inside information?! lol!

I was only messing 3spirit, I for one think Paul Coyne could be a good captain, I think he would thrive on the extra responsibility... And I know he moans a lot etc but so do a number of other players, and when you look at the games Paul got booked in it was through pure frustration at how the team was performing, the same as with any other club at this level, hence why the players are not professionals!!!

Unfortunately, my inside information has been so wide of the mark I will not posting anymore of my info on here hahahaha, don't want to get peoples hopes up... I am going to miss Dave Anderson!!!

3spirit,

SB has already stated that Dave Woozley will be captain next season.

Steve Bateman has, to date, given 2 pre-season updates and as far as I can see he has mentioned the following names as definately signed, committed to us or have left us for next season:

Signed/committed are NBH, Sincs, Jacko, Fanner, Brown, Woozley, Sweeney, Burnell, Sonner, Perkins.

No longer with us are Bully, Porter, Simon Martin and Seeby.

So far the names that have not been mentioned either way are, Coyne, Logie, Byrne, Swift, Herron, Abbey and Adam Martin.

I'm not saying they will not stay with us for next season but we cannot be certain either way until SB categorically states it.

It could simply be that at the time of the second pre-season up-date SB hadn't got round to speaking with them.
