Town 2 Stansted 0

Town scored after 7 minutes with a lovely strike in top corner from Billy Cove who really showed his class as a striker. Town then shut up shop until the 85th minute defending deep. Lee Smith put a lovely through ball to Wayne Grant to slam home. Both were maiden goals for the town. Stansted had loads of opportunities but even with an open goal couldn't hit one home.

Every move for the town was watched by the Carshalton Athletic Manager, what he gleaned from the game only he knows. Need to break that two goal losing run though don't you and we aren['t going to make it easy for you either!

We had a honorary visit from the First Prince of the Town so he could see that we could still survive without him. I refer to the great Danny Clarke and his trusty driver Daniel Alleyne. Welcome anytime lads.

Pitch still desperately needs water.

I thought is was our worst home display since Basildon.....we looked disjointed and jaded...I put it down to fatigue, and injuries, which has forced Jim to play too many players out of position.

To many times this season ,we have started brightly and taken an early lead, only to go into cruise-control,thus inviting needless pressure.

What with Smith and Cooper out for saturday and a host of injuries,i fear we might revert back to way we were playing at the start of the season, against Carshalton ( i hope not!)

Cove - good goal; but doesn't like running! With his size he is not easily knocked off the ball; would be handy playing behind a front 2; holding the ball and laying it off.

Could have done with making a couple of more passes rather than too many speculative shots; but first home game, and a goal, so we should all be pleased.

Actually between the two goals I thought we were awful - we just lost our shape and let Stansted run the midfield, and it if it wasn't for some good saves from Chopper, and the Stansted #9 Neufville's shot into orbit from six yards, I think we might well have lost. Still, one shouldn't complain about winning while playing badly.

BTW, it was his finger that Paul Dennis broke in three places (Stansted, Bowers and Basildon?)

It was pretty grim, in all honesty.

We couldn't keep possession and frankly didn't seem to want to. Whenever we did get the ball, we just hoofed it up for Billy and Lee/Wayne to chase. Yawn! Well ok it led to a rather undeserved second goal...

Do we know how long Ian Cooper is out for? The best pairing up front so far has got be Smith and Cooper. I'd like to see Jason Nash in midfield too, he seems creative and can make things happen.
