there's a new ground going up at the end of Grand Drive, opposite the co-op where the school used to be. Big wooden pavillion and hard standing been put in on three sides of the pitch............anyone want to tell us something !!!

As far as I can remember the land is going to be used by the college. I think local football clubs made enquiries to the council to use the land and got screwed over after being accepted and then the council changed their mind. Would have made a good place for a step 5 club to use.

I know Jackd, but now there putting hard standing down, WHY ? unless you're planning to play at step 5 or 6, why bother ? mystery !!!!

theyve been doing that a while to lol i dont really no but that area is always under construction its had numerous uses and theyve built a new housing estate there and theres the schools and that so just watch this space and all will be revealed i may go and investigate

IF i remember right there was a piece in a R P V programe. that they planned to move to this venue. but then it all went very quite.

As far as Im aware Merton Risley are going to play their, not sure what step, however floodlights cannot be put up so ground no good for step 5

Surely, the easiest way to find out what is occuring is to go 'on-line' and look at Planning Applications on the relevant local authority web-site ?

I played for their Sunday team about 25 years ago. Fred Brockwell was the manager.

Is it the same bunch?

 

I knew Fred always had grand designs for the Middleton Road pitches.

from my basic noisyness i think that my first thought is correct and the land will be used for the new housing development but dont quote me on that one
