The costings are astronomical for this, pitch/ground maintenance, the airfares will be approximately £3k per week, teams need to then be transported over land, fed and watered plus another 20 things that I have not even thought about.

It doesnt really make any difference if Guernsey is playing home or away, the cost is about the same. The Sportingbet funding is not enough on its own and the club has been waiting to be accepted into the CCL before being able to announce further Island found sponsorship, this will be announced soon.

Even after all of the sponsorship the GFC financials will be relying on good gate receipts but I can assure you that everything, and I mean everything, will have been completely thought through and accounted for. Mark Le Tissier is a brilliant football administrator will have the whole thing completely covered.

What do you mean by expenses??

Petrol, mainly.

Because the clubs in the CCL are quite close together there's no need and no financial benefit in hiring a coach so players drive to games. This happens almost 100% of the time in the CCL.

There's also the driving too and from home games and training once or twice a week depending on midweek games. Some players live right next to their clubs, some travel a few miles.

If a ref can claim £30 for expenses per game, some players should be able to claim £90 travelling expenses per week although that will vary by player.

If a player isn't getting their petrol money at least, then they're basically paying to play.

OK now I understand but I still dont see what the difference is between getting to an away game in the Gatwick area - you just now need to get on a plane

Guernsey what are the flights times?.....is it 12:00 landing time in Guernsey

Thanks VPCTFC and Bomaya

The contents of the link are a bit scary and I cannot understand why any individual, especially a player, would take payment from a club that was in need of facilities/refurbishment or cash strapped. I am probably being a bit niave but I wouldnt be able to sleep at night!!

Well once you step up a level or two it will become very hard to find players that won't expect money. And very very few teams don't pay at that level.

I am not sure what to think really, I guess we will just have to wait and see but I can assure you that not one player representing Guernsey will be receiving any form of payment. Obviously their travel will be dealt with by the club but as I have already stated players would be deemed unavailable for Guernsey representative football if they were reimbursed/paid for anything

Interesting about the representative football, didn't know that rule, who imposes that, your County FA? And just playing devil's advocate here, how would they know anyway?

Initially in Guernsey your sides will be playing in front of around 1,500 to 2,000.

This is going to be a culture shock to some. :)

reminds of a conversation before the charity game the other week. it was suggested that some players might enjoy the away trip so much that they stay in Guernsey! or....sign up and play your away games only. ;)

Your facilities look up to scratch for something like Step 2 or 3. Have you looked that far ahead?

Guernsey will attract good players becuase of your wages you will pay....

GG has said they won't be paying players.

I'm sure they will attract the better players on the island. I think that's basically the whole point of the team joining the English pyramid - to give the island's players a bit of exposure and to help their development in which case most of the islanders will see it as an honur to play for Guernsey.

The island's population is about 65000 which is not far off the population of Guildford. Unlike Guildford, Guernsey will only have that pool of players to chose from. maybe, one day in the future, they might have some mainland based players but I suspect that's something they'll try to avoid. I might be wrong on that though.

I think there is one or two players in the squad who have moved from the mainland and found themselves in the side so it is likely to happen again.

Jersey rugby club have just been promoted to the third tier of the English rugby union leagues and they bring players from overseas and pay them so I seriously think Guernsey would have to look at that option should we progress up the leagues over the next few years.

I have to disagree with GG on the away support. I do not think we will take as many away as 2-300, probably more like 50 and that is including those already based in the UK. I may of course be wrong though. Personally i think i would only make 1 or 2 away games per season due to the cost involved. As for the home crowds i certainly think that GG is on the money with his predictions there and i just hope the novelty does not wear off.

A lot of people who would attend these games have commitments to turn out for their own clubs, be it GFA or social leagues, on a Saturday afternoon

Govnor No 1 thinks Guernsey has a good chance because of our budget and Smudge thinks we will do well because of the lack of support of travelling players to Guernsey.

Guernsey will attract good players becuase of your wages you will pay....I'm sure players on the island will be of a very good standard, all the best players im sure will want to play for you rather than a team that plays in the island league....if i was one of the better players i would...its a no brainer...you'll be there or there abouts but some games I'm sure will be a war and thats the games which will catch you out....all the best I'm really looking forward to the trip when its our turn

Wages may or may not be better in Guernsey but I am not sure that the more you earn the better the player you will be. In fact in my experience it is often the guys who struggle who have most of the ability, I dont know why but that is my experience. We have 6 clubs on the Island so at most 66 players to choose from but realistically for this level of football about 35. I really look forward to the battles and meeting you during the season

Im going for PREMIER 1ST) Windsor 2) Egham 3) Camberley purely based on there (alleged) high playing budgets

CCL DIV ONE 1ST) Guernsey 2) Knaphill 3) Worcester pk

IF premier is on playing budget. what is the div 1 based on, have worcester park a big budget?

Not as far as I know, just good team spirit (from what ive heard),there are teams in the premier that will be paying hundreds of pounds a week to players, and there will be teams that wil only pay pennies,so its easier to name teams in the that division that should do well

As for DIV ONE most teams will pay pennies or nothing at all so the gap is much closer,a team like Worcester park with a good set of lads that are happy to play for the club should be up there because they've been there before in the league,As for Guernsey they have got money to spend (thats no secret)and Knaphill looked good when I saw them last season so that one was just a feeling

Ccl Prem Champions Camberley

Div 1 Staines Lammas.

in the prem i think that egham will be up there this season john has made some very good signings

in div 1 i think you cannot look passed w/park,i think all the traveling for guernsey will catch up on them and everyone is putting lammas down but they will have to improve alot from last year to win it

My sources tell me Westfield have made some very good signings so they could be the surprise package .There has also been managerial & coaching changes which have imprroved spirrits. Sheerwater will finish mid table

I tip Guernsey to win it along with Guildford.

Who in peoples opinions will struggle this year? I think Farleigh are in for a long old season. I watched South Kilburn once last year and they were appaling and their manager was an absolute disgrace, I cannot believe the league didnt fight harder to keep them out as they are nothing but trouble.

In the Prem I think Horley and Croydon will prop up the table along with Ash

On another note Woking to win conference south

i will have a bet with you that newby will not be playing for lammas in the 1st game of the season.
