Next seasons champions

I just dont see how our budget makes us any better opposition?? Our budget does not include the paying of any of our players and this is something we need to maintain as once our players have any kind of remuneration they will be deemed unavailable to play for the Guernsey island side in representative football. Our travel will vary but to save being away from families and employers for long periods will mostly be on the day of the game. We are used to this, lots of our local clubs play in UK cup competitions and the Guernsey side are always travelling to find decent opposition.

Are many players remunerated in this league?

WHY THE KNAPHILL W%%K FEST ON HERE?THEY AINT EVEN THAT GOOD.wALSTER PARK BEDFONT SPORTS HARTLEY GURNSEY BOOKHAM WARLINGHAM WILL ALL BE FAR STRONGER.

WESTFIELD AND SHEERWATER TO FINISH BOTTOM 2

Bore off back to Chobham and change the record!! Stats speak for themselves. You dont go 16 games unbeaten last season or 12 won on the spin the season before if your not a good side. Thats why we're on here.

And are Walster Park a new team? What are they like? Retard.

ILL STAND BY MY WORDS,KNAPHILL ARENT A BAD SIDE BUT NOT PROMOTION CONTENDERS. YOU CANT STAND IT WHEN TEAMS GET UP YOU AS WE PROVED LAST SEASON.I'M SURE REAL TITE CONTENDERS WOUD TAKE MORE THAN 1 POINT OFF FARNBOROUGH NORTH SEND. KNAPHILL SPIN MACHINE IN FULL FLOW EVERY SUMMER. REMEMBER LAST AUTUMN WHEN EVERYONE WAS HAMMERING YOU,DIDNT HEAR A PEEP OF ANY OF YOU.AND WHO R U TO TALK TURNCOAT. I SEE YOU COULDNT HACK IT AT PREM LEVEL AND SOON RETURNED

You'll stand by your words? 'Knaphill aren't a bad side'.... i thought your very cleverly thought out words were 'KNAPHILL W%%K FEST'

Totally agree, the start of last season and even the season before that they had a bad start we've proved that we can be up there. As for not being promotion contenders? Didnt we finish in a promotion spot 2 seasons ago? Never the less we'll just have to see how we start this coming campain and do our best.

Anyway, who are you? I wouldnt say playing week in week out for a top half of the table Prem side isnt 'hacking it'. I returned to Knaphill to start enjoying my football again as i wasnt at Cove. Not that i need to justify myself to you.

It depends what you mean by renumerated.

There are four types of club in the CCL (maybe more?).

Some haven't got a pot to pee in and their players get absolutely nothing.

Some have a few quid now and then and can cover some expenses but not all.

Some can cover all player expenses (I'd guess Guernsey are in this category from what you say which puts you above a lot of the clubs you'll be playing).

Some can pay more than expenses and have players on contract. There aren't many of those, probably none in Division 1, but a few in the Premier Division.

Bookham will be Top 3 in Div 1 for sure,Eversley will suprise many, but Guernsey will be Champions, due to the travelling that away teams will have to make, with no support.Windsor would not of brought a Manager back to the new Club if they had any other ambition than Winning the League,Molesey and Guildford will run them close though.

I like your predictions Smudge. I was toying with the idea of both Bookham and Molesey, definitely top 5 team in their respective divisions.

Personally don't see what difference the travelling will make...if anything it's easier for the rest of us, as Guernsey will have to make all those trips for every away match. All other teams will only have to do it the once over the whole season in the league and possibly a few times if drawn there in a cup match.

As for going with no support, how many teams (esp in Div 1) take any sort of decent following with them wherever they play (there prob isn't that many in the Prem either with the exception of Molesey, Guildford and a few others)?

Thanks VPCTFC and Bomaya

The contents of the link are a bit scary and I cannot understand why any individual, especially a player, would take payment from a club that was in need of facilities/refurbishment or cash strapped. I am probably being a bit niave but I wouldnt be able to sleep at night!!

What do you mean by expenses??

Govnor No 1 thinks Guernsey has a good chance because of our budget and Smudge thinks we will do well because of the lack of support of travelling players to Guernsey.

I am not sure what to think really, I guess we will just have to wait and see but I can assure you that not one player representing Guernsey will be receiving any form of payment. Obviously their travel will be dealt with by the club but as I have already stated players would be deemed unavailable for Guernsey representative football if they were reimbursed/paid for anything

Jurgs, the travelling will have a big impact,it would not for Guernsey. As it is my believe that they will fly to Gatwick,be met by a coach that will take them directly to Grounds. They will also pay for any extra luggage to be taken like kit, medical equipment, this will not be the same for away Teams. It's called professional forethought, which many teams in C.C.L. Lack. How would I come to this conclusion you may ask, well after all the moans about getting to Croydon Arena over the past 2 Seasons, and the time it takes, shows no planning or forethought.

Initially in Guernsey your sides will be playing in front of around 1,500 to 2,000. These numbers will increase quite rapidly if the level of football is good and competitive, they will also decrease if the football is poor. For our away fixtures I would expect Guernsey to bring 200 to 300, the Island is quite well supported around London due to the finance industry links to the city and there will be a regular tribe following the team directly from the Island.

We have an annual game vs Jersey, alternate home and away, and the crowd is always around 3,000. When the Guernsey people get behind something they do turn out and going back 30 or 40 years ago the annual Jersey game had a crowd of 20,000!!

Last year when Guernsey was Englands representative in Croatia around 700 people went from the Island and in the qualifiers gates were 2,500 to 3,000 for every game

I hope that gives you some idea

Are we not flying to Guernsey and being met and taken to the hotel (if not straight to the ground) though? If we are then whats the difference apart from only having to do it the once?

Really don't see how, in doing it once, it is going to be more detremental to us than it would Guernsey who are going to be doing approx 20 times per season!!

Guernsey will attract good players becuase of your wages you will pay....I'm sure players on the island will be of a very good standard, all the best players im sure will want to play for you rather than a team that plays in the island league....if i was one of the better players i would...its a no brainer...you'll be there or there abouts but some games I'm sure will be a war and thats the games which will catch you out....all the best I'm really looking forward to the trip when its our turn

Jurgs away teams land about 2 hours before our warm up starts, that means no real movement all morning....Guernsey i bet will make different arrangments for when they travel to us if not I'd be surprised as i think its a slight advantage, only my thoughts though

Brilliant I hope it does happen as you say,Massive Crowds home and away,we both win,win or lose. But this then beggars the question, why the Massive Funding from SPORTINGBET,as by your figures above, you would be a profit making Team even at your lesser figures.
