WHO CAN PLAY ON SUNDAYS

Recommended Posts

Does that mean that the league must be notified if a player is on contract?

I would imagine that it would be easy to not say anything and still play on a Sunday.

Is top division Sunday football only intermediate level and not classed as senior football?

Same as it's been for years, loads of contract players play on a sunday, the sunday leagues aren't informed of who is on contract, if you sign the registration and put non-contract MOST leagues aren't bothered. And even when it's pointed out, and there is a certain league in Surrey who have received countless complaints down the years, they're not interested.

Every contracted player is listed on the FA's website and the contracts are available for any club to look at I think so it's not hard to find out who is on contract if they're using their real name.......

Senior and Intermediate are outdated terms in my opinion. They may still have a meaning somewhere but as far as I'm concerned their only use these days is deciding which county cups teams get entered into.

It'll vary by county but, in Surrey, there are Senior, Premier, Intermediate, Junior and Lower Junior cups for both Saturdays and Sundays but then the county has a lot of football teams so needs more cups than counties with less teams.

Thanks VPCTFC. I had a feeling that it had more reference to cups than leagues.

I think i'm correct in saying that players who play for CCL teams and any league above can only play in the Senior leagues and cups on a Sunday,I remember a certain team in this area won the Hampshire sunday intermediate cup when the beaten team complained that they were playing senior players it was investigated and the cup was given to the losing side, its my understanding that if a player is on contract then he is contracted to one club and cannot play for anybody else saturday or sunday.

Its all been covered by the above posts.

Contract players cannot play for any other club on Saturday (unless loaned out) and Sundays.

If a contract player is booked or sent off having giving his real name, he and clubs are in trouble being fined and suspended, hence the incorrect name being given, but I have experienced a player who was told to be give a different name if they are being booked or sent off but he forgot it......fool ....... lol !!!

Not strictly true ,contracted players can play Sundays, providing they have approval from their club who they are contracted with howver, I doubt many clubs will let contracted players play for a side other than their own. Individual Sunday league may have rules that forbids contracted players playing.

Regarding the cups, same as on Saturdays, you cannot play in the intemediate cup or below if you have played in the FA Cup, FA Vase or FA Trophy.

Yer nearly right TC you cannot play below Senior levell on a Sunday if the team you have signed for on Saturday is or has applied to play in any of the Big 3 cups on a saturday or is ln CCL or above, both are deemed to mean you are a senior player and therefore must only compete in senior football competitions

Things must have changed in the last ten years. When I won the Hants Senior Sunday Cup I think we won two other cups at intermediate level that season.

Can a player have a clause to allow them to play Sunday football?

5 a sides are different if you offer a plate competition, this means that the teams who are knocked out can compete against each other in a seperate competition, otherwise its got some pretty grey areas basically its to try and form a fair day for all its no good having ASDA ladies playing against the JJ5 it wouldn't be fair

its always been the rules mate,if somebody decided to check on you then you would/should have been exspelled from the other 2 cups,in football you can always move up in competitions say from junior to intermediate but you can't move down from senior to intermediate.

Totally understand duncs. All I can say is I just played when I was asked and knew nothing about the rules back then as I'm sure most players wouldn't now.

Our reserve side was kicked out of a cup final as I came on as sub in the semi final as my brother was playing in goal and I wanted to score against him. (I had already played in a senior cup for first team). Put 4 past him in 20 minutes and will never forget it but unfortunately cost the club and players a final. I was devastated as I should never have been in the squad in the first place.

My bro got a cup final day however, they lost though.

unfortunately those are the rules mate and if they were stuck to by all leagues it would happen to a lot more teams
