Ryman league cup

Recommended Posts

There is some talk that the ryman league cup is to be played in a league format of 4 teams???

Has anyone else heard this??

Correct............hope its regionalised!

This is going back to the old Premier Mid Week League back in the 1970's. The idear of that was bring in more games as i dont theink they played as many league games back then.

As to it being regionalised - Its got Lowerstoft v Margate written all over it.

I don't think it will be home and away just 3 games

This rumour about a group stage in the League Cup is completely false. It is true that the prize money for the winners has been more than doubled, to 4K, in a bid to make the competition more attractive. I doubt if it'll work: prize money for the FA Cup is much more than that and we still have idiot managers at our level who play weak sides because they think it makes them more like Fergie. The only other change in the League Cup is that extra time has been dropped and drawn games will go to penalties after 90 mins.

It's good that extra time is being dropped.

Personally I would drop the competition as we have too many comps already

League

Fa cup

Trophy

League cup

County cup

Surely 4 is enough, especially when we are already playing 42 league games per season. If it must stay then upping the prize money could ensure more clubs take it seriously but many just want to get out as early as possible.

At least if it was in groups to start with, clubs may think that as they have to play at least 3 matches, then they may as well take it seriously

I thought we had a good chance of winning it last year.

Our cup season wasn't brilliant last year, losing to lower league opposition.

We won't win the F A Cup. Remote chance in the trophy, so lets go for it.

A game is better thgan training on a Tuesday night.

If you're winning you don't normally get tired.

i have no problem as long as there is football on being a true fan of non league footy i want it every night and not tv stuff ,real rain in the eye type plus but to be honest extra cup games are usefull for players comming back from injury and bench sitters they are all eligable for first team action so why do we call these teams weakeand its a team effort if the managers have got these players thay have to play sometime
