FNE have applied to come into the Elite, but will find out more at our AGM on Wednesday. Interesting that Old Farnboronians have also applied to come in to the Elite, as they were planning on playing at Cody Sports Club werent they?? Will they be sharing with FNE?

Last I heard on Chobham is that they've almagamated with Burymead of the Surrey Intermediate Western, but not sure if they're playing in that competition or the Guildford & Woking Alliance, which was the strongest rumour.

Now known as Chobham Burymead FC and playing at Chobham. Burymead finished second from bottom in the SCIL (W) Division 1 so should be relegated to the Guildford & Woking Alliance but that depends on reprieves etc. Last I heard was that the SCIL (W) were losing two teams from the Premier Division (Wrecclesham to the Aldershot League, Abbey Rangers to the Surrey Elite) and is only getting one in return (Tongham voluntary relegation) which may keep Chobham Burymead up. The GWAL and SCIL AGMs are this Thursday and next Wednesday.

Burymead's website - http://www.pitchero....-ou-313724.html

Having re-read that link it doesn't actually say the clubs have merged. It just says Burymead have moved to Chobham and changed their name. I know they were having trouble using their clubhouse at Bisley a while back.

Anyone know why Spellthorne didn't put their reserves in Reseve division

Right. For starters, I don't know the reason why they haven't done it but this is what's happened in the past few years.

The Surrey County Intermediate (Western) doesn't allow reserve teams to enter it's main two divisions. It has two reserve divisions that mirror the first team divisions.

In 2008-09 Spelthorne Sports had their first team and reserves in the SCIL(W). They also had an 'A' team playing in the Guildford & Woking Alliance.

In 2009-10 Spelthorne were promoted to the Surrey Elite and took the ressies with them. Their ressies won the Reserve Division. Their 'A' team also got promoted but were still in the GWA.

In 2010-11 Sports reserves withdrew from the Surrey Elite. That, combined with the 'A' team having another good season in the GWA, ended up with the reserves joining the SCIL (W) but, because of the league rules, they renamed themselves AFC Spelthorne Sports with the 'A' team becoming AFC Spelthorne Sports Reserves. They're still in the SCIL Division 1 and Reserve Division 1 for this coming season.

I don't know if they withdrew from the Surrey Elite reserve division for travelling reasons or player reasons but, if it was the travelling, you can understand them not putting a reserve team in the CCL.

Spelthorne aren't the only team to do this in the SCIL (W). Abbey are Abbey Rangers 3rd team, AFC Bedfont Green were BG/BT's thirds or something although they've now left the SCIL (W) and there's a new team this season called AFC Leatherhead who are playing at River Lane which I assume is a team for giving the Leatherhead youth section an adult side to play for rather than going straight to Leatherhead Reserves. Basically an 'A' team but renamed so the league are happy.

There's all sorts of interesting (for me anyway) stuff going on in the SCIL & GWA. Lyne have now got an adult side in it which may or may not have links to Hampton & Richmond, Knaphill Athletic are coming up through the ranks having originally being partly formed from Knaphill's 3rds and 4ths, Abbey Rangers have come through the ranks and are now in the Surrey Elite. They'll be a team to look out for in the future if they can get lights. etc. etc.

There must be an anorak smiley somewhere I can use after posts like this.
