Good luck to Guernsey FC

Recommended Posts

In the Island Games 2011 that starts on Saturday.

They're in the same group as the Isle of Man, the Falkland Islands and Gotland. I've always been good at geography but even I had to Google Gotland. It's in the Baltic Sea off Sweden.

Hope you do the CCL proud.

Oh yeah, good luck in the vote at the AGM tomorrow as well. If that doesn't work out then remind me to delete this post!

Now trust me the Women from Gotland are very attractive. Went to the Island Games in the mid 90's on the Isle of Wight and they were gorgeous and very friendly.

National Anthem of Gotland

O flower of Gotland when will we see your like again

That fought and died for

Your wee bit hill and glen

And stood against him

Proud Edward's army

And sent him homeward

Tae think again

The hills are bare now

And autumn leaves lie thick and still

O'er land that is lost now

Which those so dearly held

And stood against him

Proud Edward's army

And sent him homeward

Tae think again

Those days are passed now

And in the past they must remain

But we can still rise now

And be the nation again

That stood against him

Proud Edward's army

And sent him homeward

Tae think again

is there any indication as to the vote ratio? any no's or abstainers?

According to Knaphill's website there were 29 in favour of Guernsey joining, 7 against.

Spelthorne were voted in unanimously.

Some of you might be interested to watch this video and see where you will be playing next year...

Well done CCL clubs in voting Guernsey FC to join the CCL.

Just watched the video and have to say it must be a joy for the other CCL Div 1 clubs to go to Guernsey FC and play on a nice surface in front of a large crowd, it will certainly be a big and nice experience for the players and the respective management team !

I will make a visit or 2 to go and see Guernsey FC and take in the experience.

It will be a culture shock to Guernsey FC players and management when they play away in front of a crowd of 50.....lol !!!

I see on the Non-League website that they have made their first signing and, interestingly, he says one of the good things is that the club have arranged fixtures so that they can play in their regular division one as well. I suppose this could be like a reserve side for them.

With regard to Spelthorne, Smudge, I'm not sure if they will be sending a video but it's a decent club with a lot of decent people running it, and they will be a great addition to the CCL.

Their first signing is their National Captain, hardly a Reserve Player in my eyes.I thought that the C.C.L. arranged the fixtures, maybe their Div 1 League will be Midweek as their are only 7 sides in it.As regards Spelthorne Sports,my remarks were tongue in cheek, regarding the differential in Budgets.I am sure they are a great bunch of people like all people in C.C.L.Guernsey will be nice people as well, for sure

Smudge, when I said like a reserve side, I meant the regular league. I am sure their CCL side will be their strongest and they will probably have dual registered players, so they can get a run out in the Island league, which is no different to what teams here do. A late call up to the first team Saturday morning for an away game at Hartley Witney may cause a problem though - and vice versa!

Yeah a massive problem Financially,as Flight Names cannot be changed at the last minute, unless payment is made.Hope this has all been thought about by Clubs.or will Guernsey F.C. have an arrangement with Aurigny to waver the costs. The Guernsey Press covered a story today re Guernsey's application to get the 2012 Muratti Cup put back by a week,in case the Div 1 fixtures do not finish in April, which was denied.Judging by the last few Seasons ending in May,lets hope we have no inclement weather.Maybe the C.C.L. could accomodate them in this.

That video is from our local news channel, not sure what Guernsey's budget has to do with it.

Trebor - I presume Channel TV will film your games to show the goals on the local news programme next season?
