I met Kenny six weeks or so ago when he was last in London and we talked at length about last Wednesday's World Cup tie with Belize amongst other things, he felt there was a good chance of Montserrat progressing to the next stage of the competition against fellow minnows, despite still being under dogs, and it now looks very much like they will which will bring further publicity to Haringey Borough and the SSML.

I didn't actually realise that this was on the Haringey Borough website:

Ex-BOROUGH MANAGER STARTS 2014 WORLD CUP

The first qualifying match of the 2014 World Cup has just been played. MONTSERRAT v BELIZE

The Montserrat team is Managed by KENNY DYER who was part of Borough’s Management from November 2004 to the end of that season.

Unfortunately Montserrat lost 5-2 but there may yet be hope as it is a 2 legged tie and FIFA have since suspended Belize for alleged Government interference in that Country’s football affairs. Link to FIFA report below:-

Here we go folks, here's a clip from the game, the commentator isn't exactly a David Coleman, Gerald Sinstadt or Hugh Johns:

Bulletin folks, I was talking to the great Kenny Dyer earlier and he informed me that it is looking like beleaguered Belize will be kicked, sorry, booted out of the World Cup by FIFA giving Montserrat a deserved passage through to the next stage of the qualifying competition. This will involve a group of six, possibly even eight, Countries guaranteeing Kenny at least ten games, home and away, to show that he could well be a future Premiership Manager in the making.

The deadline of 10 July is fast approaching for the second-leg to be played by.

Don't think this is now going to happen so it looks like Montserrat will progress.

Well that's surprisingly positive of you, you usually pooh pooh everything I say on here. Can you see Kenny Dyer in control at a Premiership Club one day out of interest, even it's it's just a Wolves, Stoke, Sunderland or Fulham rather than a Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City or Man United.

Qualifying for the next stages of a competition because the opposition are thrown out is not a "deserved passage" - beating the opposition on the field of play is a "deserved passage."

This has been posted on the FIFA website today : Belize suspension lifted

Sjj2112 - You always manage to somehow bury good news don't you, are you related to the former DTI Special Adviser Jo Moore. Anyway the article you posted states that the ban has only been provisionally lifted so Belize are by no means out of the woods yet.

LOL - He is looking for a bite mate.

Doog is King - Not at all, I think Kenny Dyer would be very well equipped to Manage in the Premiership, I can't speak highly enough of him and his innovative approach to the game
