Burnham to pay for promotion push?

Recommended Posts

I hear that there is a few quid over at Burnham this season (as usual) and that Keith Wilson has signed several first teamers from last season's Wakering side.

Guess they could be the challengers with other spenders Enfield and Witham

Sureley Silencer wouldn't be playing mind games over money again to take pressure off Manor and put it on Enfield FC and Witham...... i heard Southend Manor got a budget next season too, sounds like favorites Southend Manor to me.

Manor top earners next season i hear.

I can confirm that there is no money at Burnham - I wish there was then I could repay the loyalty that my players have shown me

I can also confirm I have had a verbal agreement that one former GWR player is going to sign for us - but as you know Silencer until we go back for preseason and actually have a registration form - NO player has signed for any club

Can't believe the cover has been blown on Manor's wage structure.....

Bob Westley has armed the Gaffer with a weekly budget in a bid to achieve promotion. The groundshare with Gt Wakering has already been agreed in principal with the FA and both clubs pending Manor's inevitable promotion. Saying this though, the budget is nowhere near what some clubs receive. I think it is £60 a win per player, £30 appearance fee and as many cans of Lucozade as a player desires. The main pulling point is sausage and chips in the bar after match-days and training sessions.

Burnham = no wages - there's a first!!! I expect them to fair better next season with or without wages, decent side over there. Grant is decent too.

Also, with regards to Manor being Dark horses...I think you will find that last season we lost more league games than the previous four/five campaigns!!!

Witham and Enfield contending the title for me all day long....then the likes of Barking, Eton Manor, Burnham, B'side, S Manor, Bowers, BGU, Takeley aiming for top 6 berths.

Dark horses for me = Barking

TIC - agreed he is a decent left back. Must be good he took my place at Wakering all those years ago!!! Also means I won't have to play this year

Silencer - thanks for your comments. At least this season we will be starting with a settled side unlike last.

But as we all know consistency wins the league and that is something we have to improve on

Silencer, you are a little behind the times. Burnham have not had a playing budget for over 3 seasons now. As Willow says it is just a case of loyal players and the manager creating the right environment. Unless you are at Witham or Enfield any money players get is fairly irrelevant and covers your petrol at best. Most players these days prefer to play where they enjoy it.

I think the days of Burnham paying silly money are long gone - hence why the club is trying to insert a structure that has a steady stream of younger players that play for the club & WANT to play for the club from an early age. I consider myself lucky that I now have a group of lads that appreciate the facilities and what we are trying to acheive and most importantly as others have said on here want to enjoy their football. Thing is you only enjoy your football if you are winning so that is where the manager comes in.

I for one am looking forward to this season and expect it to be a close run battle with a number of clubs pushing for that promotion spot.

Nearly a veteran - he has always been fit and hopefully he will sign as he is one of the players I have actually gone out to get and I think he will fit in well and enjoy it
