Manager Prediction

My money is on Kevin Stott becoming the new Manager with a coach at hand. If so, was this the agenda all along as they will not have much choice if they hang it out long enough !!!!!!!!!!!!

WCW,

If I had wanted to be the Manager all along I would have made it clear from the start.

We will make an announcement early next week and I am hopeful that we will have a Manager confirmed by then. However in the interests of keeping an open mind to a number of options, it is true that I have considered what I would define as the, 'Continental' management model, where there is a Chief Coach whose primary focus is the Coaching and Managing of players and the other Managerial aspects are taken on by by a member of the Board, such as negotiating player contracts and salaries etc.

If we had a Manager/Coach who was more comfortable with that approach I don't see why we could not try to be accommodating.

HI KEVIN,

I COMMEND YOUR COMMENTS, BUT THE CCL AND WINDSOR ARE NO LA LIGA ,REAL MADRID OR BARCELONA.

IN MY EXPERIENCE KEVIN, MANAGERS AT THIS LEVEL ARE GIVEN THEIR BUDGET TO TAMPER WITH AS HE WISHES. HE WILL LIKE TO SELECT THE PLAYERS TO JOIN HIM AND HIS STAFF, NEGOTIATE THEIR SALARY AND CONTRACT IF NEED BE, BUT AT THE CCL LEVEL, CONTRACTS ARE NOT SO POPULAR AS ONE WOULD THINK. THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK IS THEN COMPLETED BY THE CLUB ONCE THE MANAGER AND PLAYER AGREE TERMS.

BY YOUR COMMITTEE MEMBER NEGOTIATING THE PLAYERS SALARY AND/OR CONTRACT TAKES A SMALL PORTION AWAY FROM THE MANAGERS RESPONSIBILTY, 'COS I AM SURE THE PLAYER WILL KNOW THE MANAGER, EVEN PLAYED FOR HIM BEFORE. WITH RESPECT, THE BOARD MEMBER WILL NOT KNOW THE PLAYER SO COMMUNICATION COULD COME TO A STALEMATE, WHERE THE FRIENDSHIP OF THE MANAGER/PLAYER WILL HELP SMOOTH OVER ANY DIFFERENCES WITH MORE EASE.

SOMETHING YOU MAY WANT TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER.

COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE THE REASON WHY THERE IS A DELAY IN ANNOUNCING YOUR MANAGER. ?

It's all interesting stuff and we all have our opinions.

I'm not sure how I'm going to look The Colonel in the eye if he does return...but the club is bigger than the man so guess it'll be a case of getting on with it.

I suspect Kevin has thought long and hard about the appointment, and possibly realises The Colonel wont be a popular choice....

Long and short of it though, we'll average 100 this coming season, we've currently got 25 Founder Supporter Applications - so the people of Windsor are hardly banging down the doors to get into Stag Meadow?

I'd be sad if any of my Football friends decided to give up on Windsor F.C. before a ball was kicked over the appointment of a Manager.

Totally agree. Take a step back and look at what has been achieved since February. There has been a huge amount of effort to get a club playing again at Windsor. Lets all get behind the new club and appreciate how lucky we are to be in a position to be bickering over who should be manager. See you all on the 16th July.

I can understand your stance Doris - I too would struggle a bit with the situation, and not knowing the full facts and having heard alot of rumours, some of which I believed to be true - now not so sure following Kevin's posts. But ultimately we all have a football club again, which is very much down to one man's detemination to make it happen. And lets not forget, this isn't the first time the club has been saved in part by this person, so I think we should understand that he believes in Windsor FC and is not just playing (as some chairman are apt to do).

take all that into account, and the fact that he REALLY knows what has happened, I would trust his judgement and decisions

I have to agree that the with only 25 founder supporters the people of Windsor are not banging down the doors to come and watch football at Stag meadow.

Its disapointing to say the least but something im sure will be addressed over the coming months.

The thing that really alarms me is I doubt some people of the town even realised WEFC were liquidated and at the same with the fact we have reformed. I have heard of both personally there in lies the problem. How do we get people interested there needs to be a lot more publicity surrounding the club but how do you generate it with just local paper coverage???

I have to say I am dubious with the impending appointment of Keith Scott. There seems to be alot of mud thrown regarding his previous involvement with budgets. Kevin himself has been quite open clearing up these supposed issues on this forum so will back his judgement it wont stop me personally coming to watch games also if you look at it without all the previous history given time sure he will produce a winning team which im sure all windsor supporters want is it not ??? Still its all rumour at the moment still no official word regarding the managers posistion.

Maybe I've not been around (or close enough to) the club for long enough but I'm really struggling to understand the anti-Scott comments here.

Hypothetically, if Person A, who writes the cheques, says about Person B - "I should have stood up to him about the bonuses and said no, but he can be a very persuasive man...." then quite frankly, unless B has a gun to A's head, the resulting overspend is hardly B's fault.

Good football managers generally need to be strong (probably even arrogant) men to succeed, and they need strong management to keep them in check.

Keith Scott brought footballing success to Windsor & Eton FC through good management.

Peter Simpson brought ultimate financial ruin to Windsor & Eton FC through total mismanagement.

Quite right Rother,I do agree with you,Peter Simpson was responsible for the bonus payments & I assume agreeing to them in the firsty place,I think I did say in an earlier post though that no one expected the unbeaten run to go on so long, through that season, whch highlights what a good job Keith Scott did at the club & remember most of those players where not players that he bought to the club & who I guess were already on contracts agreed by Peter & the previous manager.

But now it is onwards & upwards & really looking forward to a fresh start, with whoever is chosen to manage & of course play for the club & I do hope they will want to play for the club & not just looking for a quick buck as it looks like we will have a budget favourable to get good players especially at CCL level.

But please Kevin tell us who it is going to be & stop all this going on on here
