Charles Watts - Express Twitter Update

Recommended Posts

Very very interesting but the suspense is killing me...

Last night, Charles Watts posed 2 tweets regarding the Rebels:

1. Steve Bateman has confirmed that Simon Sweeney, Danny Burnell and Sean Sonner will all be returning this season. EXCELLENT NEWS!!!

The next tweet is driving me mad as I'd like to know what is going:

2. Exciting news from Steve Bateman regarding Slough Town's defence this season. Looking very strong.

Anyone got any ideas what the 2nd one is all about? My sources are refusing to tell me anything, saying I'll have to wait but its going make us league title favourites.....

I really hope we find out this Friday. I believe that players cannot sign on until middle of June and so SB will be keeping his playing cards close to his chest.

I also hope the news is that we have signed Alex Brown. He is huuuuuge. Go to the Walton Casuals website and look at the team photo people,

he is standing at the back next to former Rebel Luke Evans and Evans is a dwarf in comparison!

Also great news that Danny and Sean are staying as they are both pumped up from their twitter

Also glad Sweeney has stayed as one of our most consistent players over the last few years. I was just gutted we couldn't sing the Sweeney them tune in the playoffs :brille008:

Got a feeling its NBH as it mentions the defence not goalkeeping position... Fingers crossed its Alex Brown, NBH and Richard Hayward!!!

If we are signing Alex Brown though, I can't see it being NBH because Woozely is the main stay of our central defensive pairing next season for me!!!!

lets face it conceding goals has been our main problem the last 2 seasons so im glad thats being addressed whoever it turns out to be coming in.

Sweeney, Burnell and Sonner staying is excellent news. had Sweeney left i think we would have had an impossible task on our hands in finding a replacement as good as him. hopefully we hear of more agreeing to stay shortly

unlike the last 2 seasons there seems to be a real feel that we are serious title contenders. where that takes us lets wait and see but it could be a great season

I have a feeling Jacko has found a new club following a Twitter update last month, wouldn't surprise me if he ended up at Marlow...

I do think we have a chance if the right players are added to last years squad, I'm praying on Friday that the news is we have signed Richard Hayward but I would be pleased with NBH returning. If its both it would be awesome, with Seeby leaving and Perkins taking a coaching role that would leave us with 3/4 quality no nonsense centre backs and Perkins as back up!!!!

It is 3 new sigings I hear - Steve Bateman was so impressed with the quality of players in the supporters match against Rugby he has signed Windsor Rebel and Mark Clements in the back row and Phil the flags in goal - Batemen had said he was looking for experiance and with those 3 there is pleanty of "experiance"!

Personally Cookham, as a 'mere' supporter I would have liked to have known this information first hand rather than second hand from a reporters tweets.

The solution is simple then - get on Twitter or wait for the paper to come out on Friday. Newspaper reporters are paid to do their research and write stories. More and more of them are on Twitter as it's a good way to get information out to the public more quickly and build up anticipation to - guess what - get you to buy their paper. You won't hear any "official" news on signings etc. until they're signed on.

Sorry Reading Rebel, I'll refrain from updating a discussion forum with breaking news regarding our team in future... Probably means all club news including the stadium plans should not be discussed anymore :-$

Sorry Cookham, I wasn't having a pop at you. What I meant was Steve Bateman has obviously told a reporter that certain players were staying who has then gone on Twitter and told everyone who reads his Tweets. To me this says that information was not confidential so why not tell the people that should matter first i.e. us supporters rather than finding out by reading someones Tweets.

lets not get carried away here nobody has yet been confirmed, and as good as any players are on their past record they are only as good as their next game, we have a history of signing "great" players only for them to turn out for us only a shadow of their former glory,so let us keep our powder dry exciting as the news is and see what happens in august in our first competetive game, think the worst and when it happens it is no surprise and anything else is a bonus.

That's ok Reading Rebel... I'm just incredibly excited about this season and do think we have a chance of winning the whole thing. I actually think Bateman will listen a lot more to Dave Anderson now, and in my opinion that will be a good thing, Dave will have a big say in who we sign I think. I know its hindsight but last season, if we had picked up some points in our bad patch back in October/November we would have been well in the mix for the Championship, when you look at the team's form after that bad patch, we played 29 league games, won 19 drew 3 and lost 7, thats 60 points, championship form!!!!
