Planning Permission

Twist&Shout

Recommended Posts

I got a letter (addressed to the Occupier/Owner) it's badly worded and if you don't read it properly it looks like a new proposal, with the original proposal wording apart from the last line

" without compliance of condition 30, attached to Planning Permission F/TH/04/1601, to reduce the size of the proposal"

I was a trifle confused by it and I'm well aware of the situation!

Although a very small matter in the scheme of things hopefully, should we need segregation for a game during a good FA Cup run, I hope the away fans don't get the whole Coffin End like they used to.

Nothing worse than losing at home, soaking wet, with a thousand bone-dry away fans gloating!

Having read and re-read the letter from the council over the planning think it sums up the way Thanet Council has been handling this situation.

Amongst possible reasons are:

The planning department are having pressure put on them to drag the matter out

The planning office are working on their own to drag the matter out

They are a bunch of doughnuts who are cr@p at their job

New rules these days mark-

written into managers contract-thou shall not win cup games as this would result in the club winning prize money, exciting the supporters and lead to a small rise in overalll attendances over the season-god forbid-not allowed

but lets hope you are right.

Apart from that-good to see 'movement' on the planning issue-fingers crossed yet again

Back to the planning :

am i right in assuming then that despite what will inevitably be at least a 3 month delay-that the hotel group-travelodge-remain 100% committed ?

If so-well done KP for keeping them 'onside'

Previous planning permission has not run out as the development was started with the 5-a-side centre.

Having just spoken to Keith I can provide a bit of info about the planning application some of you have picked up on.

Basically, the Travelodge require room sizes that are slightly smaller than the ones incorporated in the original approved planning consent. So to comply with Travelodge’s needs the developer has applied to TDC for a section 73 for minor amendments.

The overall impact is to reduce the length of the core building by a couple of meters which means it can be dealt with by officers and not the full planning process.

Keith is planning to make a statement at the club’s AGM in July - initially to shareholders and asap after to supporters generally.

Given I also got a letter from TDC, I thought I'd ask why, and this is the response from the Case Officer I received:

"Given that past applications on this site have attracted a lot of public interest, we have tried by all means to consult as many people as possible and have used the records that we have of everyone who has shown interest, or submitted comments regarding any development at this site.

If you are in support of the development, please submit a formal letter of support either by email or through the post."

Well, I'm certainly going to!

planning.services@thanete.gov.uk.

For a letter, mail to: Planning Services, Thanet Distrrict Council, PO Box 9, Cecil Street, Margate, Kent CT9 1XZ.

You'll need to include your address and quote the application number; F/TH/11/0428 and the email or letter should reach TDC by 28th June.
