Ricky Hayles has left the club to join Thurrock Fc,I believe this is so he can test himself at a higher level.Thanks for your service the last couple of years.

 

The club are pleased to announce the signing of centre half Reece Noel from Woking who was originally with Brentwood when they knocked us out the FA CUP,he then impressed against Woking,who then signed him.He went on to play 16 games in the second half of the season in a good Woking side.

Ricky Hayles....is a legend - what were the recorder doing saying he had re-signed for us!? not good news that we are losing out to teams like Thurrock in the race to sign players.....hmmmmm the glamour of ship lane is clearly too hard to resist.

I believe Ricky was approached by Thurrock initially and turned them down as they were going to be playing in the ryman premier.When they got reprieved into the connie south he felt that that he wanted to test himself in the next level up which is fair enough and test himself he will as Thurrock are crap.

It's not choosing Thurrock over Hornchurch,it's choosing connie south over ryman prem.This new fella is quality anyway so I really wouldn't worry too much about it.

he played against us and was quality,snuffing out any threat we did pose (which wasn't all that in fairness)

No surprise that when we played them a few weeks after in the trophy,we won easier and he had left by then.

 

Everyone i have spoken to this morning about him,reckons he is a better all round player.

I aint said anything else on the matter R!? To be honest I couldn't care saying that Thurrock were in a league above, I just think it's not great losing possibly our best defender to a substandard team who should really be in our league - I don't know the ins and outs of how transfers work in this league or any other for that matter but I'd like to think we could compete with Thurrock.

The same has happened with us regarding Kris Newby from East Thurrock. Was looking likely to join us but changed his mind once he found out Thurrock were playing in Conference South. Can't really blame the guy for wanting to play at a higher level.

Tbh I think Thurrock are in for a long season again.It's ok wanting to test yourself at a higher level but if you are getting beat every week then your credentials as a player are damaged.Newby is an ok player but not connie sarf standard and they have the likes of boylan but he is way past his best,hence why he is at Thurrock.I believe those players will regret going there,especially hayles who I can see falling out with the Thurrock gaffer after a while

If he had joined a decent Connie South team it would be different. So, i agree with Kimble.

We'll be swapping places at the end of the season and he'll be begging to come back home.

I think sometimes you can shine in a struggling club like Scott Parker has done in a dire West Ham team that deserved to get relegated.

Hope Rickie comes back though for all that - I do believe that Hx can get promoted and that Thurrock will struggle again.

In Reiss Noel, you are signing a quality player. Capable of playing centre-half, right-back & does a job in midfield. Technically solid, and deceivingly pacy. Good addition for you lot IMO.
