We are not here to run marathons completely different animal compared to a footballer if you study the times and distance run by premiership players its normally between 6 and 8 km's( I think Beckham holds the record in a match ) however a simple fitness test should not be out of the question for AR's they should want to do it IMO

 

 

Assistants above the CCL have to undergo a fitness test.

 

If assistants had to take a fitness test to officiate on the CCL then my fear is that you would end up with insufficient assistants

Perhaps there should be tests and only those that pass should officiate on the premier division?

Smudge, we have very good officers who appoint the referees and assistant referees. Sure they award the more difficult games to the better officials based on their marks during the season

DON'T FAINT BUT I TEND TO AGREE WITH YOU SMUDGEYBOY, BUT THE ONE THING I NOTICED LAST SEASON WHICH THE CCL REFEREE'S SECRETARY MAY WANT TO CONSIDER, IS THAT I SAW QUITE A FEW CCL PREM TOP OF THE TABLE CLASHES WHERE IN MY OPINION THE REFEREE NOMINATED TO OFFICIATE THE MATCH WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH AND THE GAME TOO BIG FOR THEM.

 

NOW I DO REALISE THAT YOUNG REFEREE'S HAVE TO LEARN AND AT TIMES THEY ARE PUT IN THE DEEP END, BUT CERTAIN GAMES I SAW THEY STRUGGLED TO COPE WITH THE PASSION, PRESSURE ON WHAT THE MATCH HAD ON IT, WHERE PERHAPS A MORE EXPERIENCED REFEREE WOULD SUFFICE, AS I DO NOT LIKE PLAYERS BULLYING YOUNG REFEREE'S AND BY DOING SO MAY DETER HIM/THEM TO RECONSIDER REFEREEING IN THE FUTURE.

 

ALL I ASK IS THAT THE REFEREE SECRETARY STUDY POTENTIAL GAMES WHICH COULD GET FIESTY, AND CHOOSE AN EXPERIANCE REFEREE FOR THE FORTHCOMING SEASON..

In your second paragraph you mention 'more experienced referee' and 'young referees' so, from the games you saw, was it the young referees who you felt were less able to cope as opposed to older ones, i.e was it a difference in years of age and / or life experience (and useing that to their benefit) or was it lack of refereeing experience (i.e. games under the belt)? I ask as it does not always equate that a young referee lacks experience as opposed to an older one when in fact it might be the opposite if the individual concerned has come to refereeing at a later stage of his / her life.

GLUCK, WHAT I MEANT IS THAT CERTAIN GAMES I WITNESSED LAST SEASON, YOUNG REFEREES WERE NOMINATED TO REFEREE WHAT I CALL FIESTY GAMES, SO IN MY OPINION, THESE YOUNG REFEREE'S WERE BEING BULLIED AND INTIMIDATED. ALL I AM SAYING IS THAT THE REFEREE SECRETARY SHOULD PAY EXTRA ATTENTION TO GAMES, WHICH FROM HIS EXPEREINCE. VISUALISE WHAT COULD BE A FIESTY,& PASSIONATE AFFAIR, SO A MORE ELDERLY AND EXPERIENCE REFEREE SHOULD BE NOMINATED AND PROTECT THE YOUNG REFEREES SOMEWHAT, THEN WHEN THEY HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE, GIVE THEM THE HARDER GAMES TO OFFICIATE.....
