Thurrock Reprived

Recommended Posts

More than likely, this would probably mean our main derby would be against someone out of Essex.

Obviously canvey v concord is one derby

No doubt instead of us v ricay as a main derby (last year it wasn't considered a derby by the ryman league despite being our 2nd nearest game)ricay will probably get east Thurrock and no doubt we will get wingate. If this is the case then the club should complain as we have been stitched up with bank holiday fixtures the last couple of years

Surely it's a derby match away to Wealdstone :wall:

Margate would probably have Cray as their derby fixture or even Hastings.

We hope our derby against you is on Good Friday then...so I can come up straight after the Folkestone half marathon, and then onto the Planet Thanet beerfest...

Not sure how we got 'stitched up on our Bank Holiday fixtures' for the past couple of years. Two seasons ago we had Aveley (H & A), Dartford (H) and Billericay (A). Last season we had Aveley twice again, plus Wealdstone twice: the home match was one of our best gates of the season and the away game was on New Year's Day, getting one of our nastiest journeys out of the way on a day when there was no traffic. This year, the nailed-on Bank Holiday certainties are Canvey-Concord, Bury-Lowestoft, Harrow-Wealdstone and probably Kingstonian-Tooting. Which leaves, say, AFCH-Billericay (the one we seem to want), Margate-Hastings, Lewes-Horsham, Leatherhead-Met Police, Cray-Carshalton, Wingate-ETU and Hendon-St Albans (assuming, for the sake of argument, that St Albans replace Thurrock which is by no means certain). But there's a stronger case for Billericay-Wingate or Hornchurch-Wingate.

For the other Bank Holiday we could have Harrow-Hendon, K's-Met, Lowestoft-Canvey, Bury-Billericay, Concord-ETU, St A-Wealdstone, Cray-Margate, L'head-Tooting, Carshalton-Horsham, Lewes-Hastings and, er, AFCH-Wingate.

Any other offers?

Conference AGM reprieves Thurruck

As Thurrock finished the season in a relegation position they should have been relegated no matter what and one of the losing play-off finalists promoted, dunno which one tho'.

Or it might have been fairer if, as the reprieved club they was given the choice to go into Conference North or stay in RPL, instead of Bishops Stortford who had Conference North forced on them, and for financial reasons may have to take voluntary relegation though no fault of their own.
