COACH TRAVEL

Recommended Posts

Last night at the AGM The subject of coach travel was brought up and some valid arguments were made for and against travelling on the coach with the players & staff. After some discussions & taking into account the views of everyone who has commented on here and in person it was decided that due to the timings of the coach travel and one or two minor incident, that for this season we will run the away travel separate from the club.It is hoped that this enables people who may work Saturday mornings or youngsters who play football can all make our transport.

We do not aim at getting to the ground ten minutes before kick off but around 2pm,meaning leaving between 12 & 1 to most games. Some games like Margate, lewes,Lowestoft & bury we will make an earlyish start, getting to the grounds for around 12.30-1pm

We hope to keep the prices as close to £10 adults & £5 kids but this will depend on how full each vehicle is and rising fuel prices.

I am hoping it will work out better. At times things got heated on the coach, especially on the way home. This was obviously due to the alcohol intake but also because of the amount of time we were spending at away grounds, around 6 hours for 90 minutes of football.

Many people go out Saturday night, some work, others work Saturday mornings, kids play football Saturday mornings etc etc

It is hoped that if we cut the time down from an 8/9 hour day out to 5/6 hours (including travelling) more will be able to make the trips. Most Saturdays last year I had calls the morning of the game from

people asking what time the coach left, when I said 10.30 or 11 the typical answer was oh then ok,bye.

I have been quoted £200 a minibus to all away games for next season. This is a very good price, especially to the longer games. The only problem arises when we can't fill the bus,if there is only a few people then I can use my vehicle to take 8 plus me,I will also use my vehicle when we have over 16 so judging by the last couple of seasons away travel we should be well covered.

Another problem which may arise is the amount of kids, obviously we want to encourage as many as possible to both home and away games but at £5 a kid ,it does cause a bit of a headache if we had alot as we would be short of money, maybe we put the prices up a bit for both adults & Kids,a bus stop always helps,at £200 with 16 people we need an idea or two to make the price come down, especially if we have 5:6 kids or more on board.

ANOTHER IDEA I HAVE HAD IS FOR CERTAIN FANS TO SPONSOR CERTAIN AWAY GAMES,OR TO PART SPONSOR AN AWAY TRIP,CAN BE £30,£40,£50,£60,£75,£100 or £200,WE COULD HAVE 6 PEOPLE SPONSORING ONE GAME IF IT HELPED,NOT SAYING WE WILL GET PEOPLE SPONSORING EVERY GAME OR EVEN HALF OF THEM BUT THE GAMES THAT ARE WILL HELP.THE PLAN IS FOR THE AWAY TRAVEL SECTION TO BE PUT IN THE PROGRAMME WITH GAMES A FEW WEEKS IN ADVANCE AND IF THE PERSON OR BUSINESS SPONSORING THE GAME WISHES THEN UNDER EACH BIT OF INFORMATION FOR AN AWAY GAME WILL BE SPONSORED BY: THE COMPANY OR PERSON

IT IS SOMETHING I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SPONSORING AT LEAST ONCE A SEASON,IF YOU ARE INTERESTED LET ME KNOW ON HERE OR 07531 088777

Also it may be that we can fill a coach to bigger games, especially if we can hit the ground running.A coach is around the £400 mark, depending on where we are going. If we do have good numbers we will obviously look at running coaches to certain games,if you are interested in sponsoring or part sponsoring a coach trip enabling cheaper or free coach travel to certain games then let me know on here or on 07531 088777

We did have the supporters association sponsor a game last season and we also have had a few fans over the years sponsor or part sponsor a coach or two

Very little news on sponsorship.

Any chance of Man of the Match coming back.

I will sponsor same players as last season. Smith and Coyne.

Heard Smith has signed, not sure about Billy.
