I think you'll find many differing opinions from Town fans about the BRFC/1893 situation.

 

For what it's worth I have very little problem with Brimsdown Rovers. Without them we wouldn't be here, simple as that. Relationships could at times be described as 'working' at best, but I personally have no problem with them. I also had no problem with the Enfield FC that carried on until 2007. It wasn't an easy choice to split but the demise of the former club was inevitable, even if we'd have all stayed and even if we'd have all brought 10 mates each to every game with us. The debt was too big and there was no assets. No way out. It was the fault of the previous Chairman and the political regime in Enfield at the time of the sale of Southbury Road.

 

In my personal view (and as THM has previously said) the new 1893 club shouldn't claim the history of EFC. That club was killed (no fault of theirs) and it should be remembered that way. My footballing upbringing was watching Enfield play and it's something I have many great memories of and am very proud of. I have never had a 'big team' or followed anyone else. Enfield were my team and Enfield Town are now my team. In my opinion the spirit of the old club lies with us (something I'm sure 1893 will debate) but we don't claim the history.

 

There has been some very acidic 'banter' from both sides since the formation of 1893 which isn't a pleasant thing, but such is life. I'm not shedding any tears about the grading failure, but that's because they appear to have swallowed Brimsdown Rovers and I don't like to see a club disappear, whoever they are.

 

 

All about opinions though....

 

On another couple of points: Coup - we weren't chokers last year, chokers implied we should have done better. We were just too [censored], too often.

 

And from what I'm led to believe, 1893 failed the grading not because of the timing of their work, but the quality of it.

 

 

I would just like to say that I agree with everything that has been said above.

 

All I hope is that what Mr Happy says is only banter and not true hatred which its seems to come across as everytime Enfield 1893 is mentioned.

We have been told many times by LBH that the ground cannot be built on,at least 80% of the stadium and it's grounds.This would mean it was virtually worthless to build anything on the rest.

The pitch and surrounding areas were marshland before the stadium was built and if football ceased to be played there would go back to marshland within 12 months as without maintenance it would go back to it's natural state.You simply can't build on it

 

 

 

 

Bugger me, could've sworn I logged onto the ESL forum but I seem to have ended up in the middle of a Rymans thread???

Seeing as the ESL clubs are SUPPOSED to go into the Ryman League and the subject is about ground grading etc I would of thought comments about grounds in the Ryman fair game.How is Eva bruin anyhow???

 

 

 

The first page was about ground grading, the next three are a row between Enfield and Enfield about who's really Enfield (who gives a s**t!) and why AFC Hornchurch's ground can't be bult on....

 

 

And who the hell is Eva Bruin???
