I see Ware have been moved from Southern 1 Central back to Isthmian 1 North. This is because Enfield didn't get their ground ready in time and have been denied promotion and put back in the Essex League.

Strange situation - on March 31st Enfield had the grading. The ground was hosting step 4 football, but their sharers, Enfield Town have moved to a new ground and taken most of the fixtures and fittings with them. Enfield were given an extension to get the ground back up to scratch but they've failed.

This shows what a farce the gradings are. After all, on March 31st Enfield Town's new ground wouldn't have had the grading as all the stuff was still at the old ground but they're allowed to stay at step 4.

So now we wait and see who the FA put into the Southern League 1 Central to take up Ware's place. It could be someone like Rugby which will be a nice little trip for Chertsey!

Even with Rugby in it, Chertsey will have less travelling overall than if they'd been put in Isthmian 1(S) though. Strange that.

**edits hopefully before anyone's read what I've written**

And how about this for a 250/1 punt - Guildford to win their appeal and also be placed in SL1C?

COnsidering all the north/south imbalance moans, can you imagine how well a double CCL promotion would go down? :)

I edited that bit out Bommy. You did well catching it.

Reason being, I read on the Chertsey unofficial site that Guildford have withdrawn their arbitration appeal.

Although I am sure it will start a load of rumours, comments and general 'summer gossip' I am giving you the position I have as i said I would-

Having returned from holiday last Friday I sat down with the Chertsey Chairman and Sec for the first time since the end of the season yesterday afternoon. I had informed my Chairman of my intention to resign two weeks before the end of the season. That timing was for the reason that I did not want it seen that our promotion/title hopes were linked to my decision. Obviously I hoped we would be sucessful but the position about my resignation was not based on promotion or where we would be put. The Chairman asked for me to reconsider and we agreed to meet after the season and go from there.

I have no reason to disclose personal information but a very serious situation is happening outside of football and work and puts everything into perspective and the reality is that I do not have the time or desire to run a football club financially and timewise at least from almost top to bottom. I just wish to concentrate on football for at least the next year and had come to the conclusion that I could not take Chertsey any further without a considerable change in direction.

I have spoken to six other Clubs in the last few weeks of which only one I approached as they openely asked for candidates. The others contacted me and it is flatterring that there has been interest. I am not stupid enough to think that most of them wanted money rather than a football input but two very clearly did not and the opportunity to only manage rather than run a club was of interest. What I have discovered though is that sadly the vast majority of clubs are in a terrible financial state with no real prospect of going anywhare but bust. I've spoken to and met some great people recently that love their Clubs but my outside personal life must take priority and giving even more time to another Club is not an option at present.

Having heard what my colleagues at Chertsey have had to say yesterday I made my decision this morning to stay at the Club albeit on vastly different terms. I am completely stepping back from the running of the Club and will take no financial part. I will only deal in football matters (players and budget) and the Committee have made very clear their desire to raise a substantial amount of money to improve the team and Club. The Club now has a monthly income but in no way can support itself as it is. New financial support must be found in the form of Directors and Sponsors otherwise Chertsey will quickly fall back to where it was a few years ago. Currently we are in the enviably position of no debts except month to month bills and have an income in excess of those but to move forward we need a lot more than just relying on one person. I never wanted to leave Chertsey but things have to change. The newspaper article whilst I was away was exaggerated. I only again commented about how bad our sponsorship position was (we brought in £450 last year in total, without even a main shirt sponsor) and that I was listening to offers from other Clubs. I have been away and wanted time to deal with work and personal issues. Chertsey will again cut the budget next year as we have done for the past three years, the economic climate is desperate and we need to be sensible although our clear target is the playoffs which I firmly believe with some other financial help is achievable. The Southern League was not at first my first choice but with the re allocation of Clubs it has worked out at 20% less travelling for us and the strength of the Ryman South next season is particularly strong. Obviously Guildford still have arbitration but we will deal with that if the matter arises.

As much as I enjoy posting and reading this forum there has been no 'PR Campaign' or any other rubbish. The season finished just over four weeks ago and I seriously needed to assess my position and listen to offers from others at a very difficult point of my life. Our pre season list will now be arranged and I hope we can arrange some games with CCL teams as there will be no better preparation and I have enjoyed meeting and competing with you( well most of you!) Enjoy your summer and I look forward to reading the surefire expected abuse I will still receive!

All the best

Spencer

Good luck to you and Chertsey in the Southern League ,been nice meeting you over the last two season send my best to Steve
