SSML AGM - Saturday 18 June

Recommended Posts

Kingsbury London Tigers went behind Tokyngton Manor's back in a cloak and dagger fashion to secure the Viking Sports Ground for themselves from the London Playing Fields Foundation

Have they done any work to the ground have they done it up or any think anyone know ?

The last time i was at the Viking Sports Ground was in 2008!

I Live nearby and drive past everyday to work.

I have seen a new stand down the far end and seating in the stand near the car park. They have also put a paybox in by the entrance. Still work going on next week according to the builder. I will ask the guys next time i visit what their side of the story is with the ground.

Apparently they have made major improvements to the VSG...they removed Rhodes.

And going behind peoples back in a cloak and dagger style, is that how you approached George Michael in the public loo all them years ago Rhodes?

When i last visited the ground in 2008 there was a covered hard standing area behind one goal and a covered seating stand behind the other goal!

Savagebee - When Bedfont Green vacated the Viking Sports Ground towards the end of the 2009/2010 season their Chairman unscrewed all the seats from the stand behind that goal at the car park end and took them away with him which left Tokyngton Manor high and dry as we still had a number of home games to play

Well it looks like seats have returned to that stand!

I remember i very tight walkway along one side of the ground and that you could not walk along the side where the dug outs were it was a strange little ground!

it was a strange little ground!

Savagebee - I think that's why it is widely known as the hidden gem because of it's leafy quaintness and tucked away off the M40, blink and you miss it.

No it isn't. You are the only person that calls it that. Everybody else knows it as a dump.

Did anyone use the ground last season ?

Not to my knowledge, the London Playing Fields Foundation were supposedly getting the pitch Wembley, sorry, Emirates like for us and doing other work however, like I said, Kingsbury London Tigers went behind our back and somehow sweet talked the LPFF, brown envelopes spring very much to mind

Above is what I normally delete on a regular basis everyday! You've got a few hours left Clifford....

NeutralFan - Why delete it, these sort of underhand dealings need to be exposed and in the open

My (fairly educated) understanding was that the LPFA lease was with Bedfont Green, not Tokyngton, and LPFA had taken out an injunction to stop Bedfont Green using the ground (debts). Tokyngton probably had no legal right to be playing on the ground, even before the injunction. I have some personal experience of subleases of leases of football grounds - most leases specify no subletting, or even if they do permit such, it's only with the permission of the lessor. Did Bedfont Green have permission to sublet to Tokyngton?

Are you saying that Tokyngton have since negotiated some sort of legal lease with LPFA? Or have they just enquired as to when the ground would be available again? Do you indeed know anything about what was/ is going on? As for your libel that brown envelopes have changed hands.....

Back on topic.

I really hope that the league do not consider keeping Stony in Division 1. They need to bugger off to Division 2. All the players have to arrive at 11am just to make it from the changing rooms to the pitch for a 3pm kick off

Winslow boy, you had any discussions with the league about going up? I'd try and get in there with a few discussions before they decide the constitution and make a big mistake

Bigboss I believe chairman has made contact. I understand letter of the law is a reprieve for Stony but with their lack of facilities and poor side I would hope we have a chance as we would certainly be competitive and ground is improving all the time
