Managers Merry Go round

Can anyone tell me why managers who get the sack,who haven't achieved anything in football keep getting managers jobs. Please lets have your sensible opinions. I know quite a few coaches who have sent their CV in and can't didn't get the job. The manager gets the job and ask's the same coach to work with him. Smudge you have seen a lot of this because we have spoken about it,how do they get these jobs ?

Gift of the gab helps,tell them what they want to hear,promise the earth,even if you know you cannot deliver.Being a Shy person myself,it can be very difficult to Hoodwink people at an interview.Maybe my C.V. lacks any Managers Jobs,I have done,but won a League at under 9's.Which is more than most highly esteemed Managers have ever done.

I have written to many clubs and had no joy and it's very frustrating. I have also been lucky to get the opportunities I have had. Trouble for me was getting my foot in the door. When my name appeared against others with more experience, no matter what coaching level or playing experience, they would get the nod. I have also found a case or two of who you know, not what you know. Hopefully badgering clubs for charity events has helped put my name about and maybe one day I will get a chance of managing a first team. I even said when I first started posting on this site that I would go back to playing to get into a club.

 

It's not easy starting out but once you have it on your CV it stays there and counts.

I think it is a case of who you know, plus a bit of Bull, plus potential to bring in players, plus the potential to bring cash to the club,,,, hold up a minute I can do all those things and I still ain't got a first team job!!!!

I have already got a management team with a proven record,we just don't want to work under the managers that are running sides now. Though one or two of us have to,just waiting for the chance to move on. Smudge agree with you,but how can a manager leave one club where he did nothing,get another job where he did nothing and get the job back at the first job he left,are all the chairmen losing their marbles.

Grant took Chelsea to Champions League Final and Portsmouth to FA Cup Final and so I guess his reputation kept the West Ham boards faith in him. He should have gone by the New Year but its their own fault for hesitating as well as offering him a 4 year deal when they were supposed to be making cut backs to reduce the clubs debts!

 

Agree with comments of it's who you know etc. Pardew being best mates with Ashley didn't help Chris Hughton who was doing a good job!

You may be talking about me here 42 Seater?! Thing is it's all relative, one clubs failure might be another club's success.........if that makes sense! I'm sure there are plenty of unemployed/employed Manager's/Coach's that believe they could do a better job than Manager's/Coach's currently IN jobs and that goes from our level up to the top level, in my opinion.

 

I'm not the best one at putting things across well in the written form as I never seem to get things across correctly, much rather talk!!! Feel free to PM me if you wish or come down to a pre-season game for a chat, more than happy talking to anyone about football!

42 Seater,many times it is not the Manager's fault,that they move on,sometimes over active Chairman expect too much in the first place,with the aspirations they have,but do not back it up with the Financial assistance to aid a Manager.Take any level of Football,why is the reason that Man Utd,Q.P.R.,and too a lesser extent Met. Police,Leatherhead,Sutton,Guildford,Chertsey are successful,because they have great Managers,or a lot of Financial Clout.The thing that makes me laugh is when Managers that are good at Managing at the Level their at,get moved on,and the Club does no better,if not worse than when they were there,i.e Merstham and Egham.MONEY IS THE KEY !!!!!

from my p[oint of view I think that managers like players should be judged on Results, at the end of the day all clubs want sucsess and it is mainly down to the manager's to acheive this.Now for some sucsess is winning the league and moving the club forward for others it is to stabalise the club and make them safe,its not about saying some people haven't got a clue because they do things differently you are putting a lot of pressure on any club to give you a chance if you already hold this opinion of managers and especially club chairmen who ultimately are the ones who can give you a chance.
