Rather than hi-jack various other posts, I thought I’d canvass views onthe use of pseudo swear words on this forum. We all know we can’t swear “properly”as the site just blanks the offensive words, so the phrases used in lieu,despite what NG says, aren’t swearing, but are they offensive??.

Are pseudo swear words offensive ?

 

........a young lad comes down stairs after reading the CCL forum and says to his mum and dad '' You 2 are fecking kents'' mum and dad gasp at disbelief in what they heard ! .......

 

Its not the actual words but adults and kids (who will learn and understand) what these pseduo swear words mean,. so are we as adults actually leading by a good example to these kids on this forum ?

 

One makes up their own mind, mine is clear, so why does one have to swear or don't they know any better one asks !

I've seen much worse language on facebook which has many more younger members on it and the swear words are not replaced with asterix's!

Maybe JJ, but maybe difficult to manage for 16 year olds, but should do as my more concern is the younger kids, 'cos nowadays at 16 they know everything.............. so they think !

 

Can't deny your facebook comments JJ, but does the CCL forum have to follow suit, and does that make it right !

Interesting Mr. Nice Guy.You talk about Children getting bad habits,from reading this site's contents.But by a miracle you now post,NOT IN CAPS LOCK.A PISS TAKE OR WHAT.WHATEVER ROCKS YOUR BOAT.Unfortunately due to certain people complaining,about me personally having an edit facility,to erase certain comments that offend some people that is no longer an option.Personally they do not offend me,so lets get back to Football.

most people I will take with a pinch of salt when it is written down but if it is Duncs I know it is offensive and it is just because he cannot spell the words properly

Instead of assuming like Duncs, why don't you ask first, you'll do best by asking before presuming ! Infact, apparently after 26 months, complaints have been made by some forum members that I've been SHOUTING over the last 26 months ! So I have been asked to type in lower case..... you feel better now !

 

It may not offend you, but why should I accept being verbally abused (sworn) at when making conversation, and trying to protech young kids that like and want to read the CCL forum.............?
