Tooting on the brink?

A friend of mine has just sent me a message about Tooting's current predicament. He said to me that it is looking very likely that they will not have a team to support next season.

Apparently there seems to be so much going on in the background but a complete news blackout from the club when questions are asked. The chairman has resigned with most of the board. The members club chairman has also resigned. All publicity concerning the complex (stadium and Hub etc) has had any reference to T&MU removed and just mentions all the facilities plus Chelsea Ladies football team play at the ground.

The official website has had the plug pulled and there is stronge rumour that AFC Wimbledon will be moving in and now they have won promotion. (There was arumour about this early last season.) There has been a sesne that they have been trying to run down everything to do with T&M with lack of any advertising, sponsorship etc.

Ex-chairman Steve Adkins is apparently a very successful businessman with many major developments to his name, the suggestion being that he has a plan for the stadium / site in mind.

A rather sad example of fans and 125 years of football history being ignored seems to be on the cards.

Makes my post on the league structure earlier today about no reprieves look a bit silly !!

That given-i am surprised as tooting had quite a good season-and if i recall correctly-about a third of the way through the season inversted in some better quality players which took them up the league-and they seemed to have impetus for next season.

Perhaps how wrong i can be-but we'll see.

Somehow-i think they will ride through this one.

With regards tro AFC-surely they would have a contract with kingstonian-and pleasant ground that it is-how the heck will you get about 5000 into Tand m's ground;and again-nice stand-but surely not enough seats to meet standard required for league 2

Sad to hear of a Club in trouble - too many Clubs are owned by people who are not passionate about them and are involved for the wrong reasons.

Hope they can sort something out & find a new benefactor who's in it for the football.

With regards to AFC Wimbledon's interest, they've no more room to expand at Kingsmeadow - bear in mind that when they were in the Ryman Premier the car park was packed & now they'll expect gates of 4-6 thousand regularly. Looking at Tootings ground theres one side undeveloped & room behind the goal (to the right of the picture) for a large stand (like that at Woking) and parking that's if they can get planning permission.

T&M would not want another ladies team playing there as they already host Chelsea Ladies.

Mind you it would only be the 2nd non league club Norbiton have upset in there short history since coming into existance in the CCl.

Better off without Norbiton in non league leave it to the proper clubs.
