Chertsey into the Southern League

Recommended Posts

The Central Division doesn't look a bad division to be in actually.

Subject to any appeals etc. they'll be in the same division as Ashford, AFC Hayes, Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, Bedfont, Burnham, Chalfont St. Peter, Fleet, Marlow, North Greenford, Northwood, Slough, Uxbridge and Ware. Plenty of local derbies there. There are a couple of longer journeys to St Neots, Leighton, Barton etc but going into Ryman 1 S would have meant some journeys of the same length into deepest, darkest Kent.

Good luck to them.

Guildford are borderline. Godalming have stayed in the Ryman League but if Guildford went up to the Ryman someone would have to give way somewhere else and that someone would probably be Godalming.

The other way of doing it would be moving a Ryman 1 N club into the Southern League (Cheshunt maybe?) and moving another Ryman 1 S club into the North Division to create a gap. That's too much hassle though and would probably create more problems. The FA have already had to move Chatham from the South to the North Division. I think this happened to them last season but someone folded meaning Chatham could go back South which is what they wanted.

All very complicated.

Remember the days when you were in a league or one of it's feeders and stayed in that section unless you wanted to move out? Things were more certain but it wasn't ideal either as you had Kent and Sussex as part of the Southern League system with Essex and the CCL as part of the Isthmian.

Would Guildford go into that division? Yes, almost certainly, for the reasons VP has mentioned, although maybe Godalming and Fleet would swap over (again). But for City, I think the ship has sailed.

Agree Beano. Cannot imagine the FA would publish a document showing Chertsey promoted only to retract it if "arbitration" went in Guildfords favour. They won't promote 2 teams from the same League either so for me our Champions this season are staying put. Shame, but nonetheless good luck to Chertsey.

VERY TRUE GF BUT THE F.A. DOCUMENT CLEARLY STATES ''PROPOSED'' CLUB ALLOCATIONS, SO THIS DOES GIVE THE FA ROOM FOR MANOEUVRE IF NECESSARY, BUT I DOUBT THEY WILL..........

WITH RESPECT TO ALL CCL CLUBS, I'M SURE YOU'LL AGREE, AT LEAST CHERTSEY WILL BE PLAYING ON BETTER PITCHES NEXT SEASON........
