Windsor FC

If I was Bookham I'd be seething.

I understand the comments regarding Windsor, however why should Bookham be seething, if you finish in the bottom 3 you should expect to be relegated. Too many teams have had reprieves in both the Prem and Div 1. New teams in the leagues will help to rejuvenate rather than the current stagnated leagues we currently are apart of.

Hi Farleigh and other I have been in the past a member of Bookham FC and I am a friend of many in the club and I would like to air my veiws which I believe echo many of the Bookham members.

Firstly I would say that I admire the people who are struggling to relaunch Windsor as all football at this level is made posible by the unstinting work of volunteers.

You are right in what you say in regards to Bookhams league position and the club were prepared for relegation should teams in promotion positions had the required grading, teams had been relegated to us, or clubs moving sidways as directed by the FA.

My and others anger and frustrations in this matter are because the rules and regulations have been so obviously flouted by both the FA and CCL. Windsor have been placed in our league at Step 5 as a relaunched club thereby relegated 2 steps. This is very obviously not the case as bourne out by the statements by Windsor people on here. They are very obviously a NEW club and should have applied for membership as a team outside the pyramid as Guernsey have done and entered if voted in at the AGM. Secondly it is a rule of this league that clubs coming into the league must have a demonstratable security of tenure. By Winsor FC's own admission they do not have that yet.

The CCL must be fully aware of this and have decided not to challenge the FA's position and therefor in my veiw not looking after the best interests of a member club.

By accepting the FA's position on this the members of the CCL have been dealt a fait accompli so giving no chance of debate and taking any decision making away from the floor.

Quite frankly its an F...ing disgrace.

For the record no member of the board from last season at Windsor & Eton is involved at Windsor FC hopefully that will clear that one up.

Kevin Stott was the ex Vice-Chairman wasn't he? Although I understand he did a disappearing act last season, perhaps to distance himself from what was coming? I definitely remember him sitting down with Peter for periods trying to sort out the financial mess.

Listen Geggy, it's not personal, it's also only football and you will find that most posters on here (if not all) have nothing against Windsor FC or the other club Windsor & Eton FC, this is simply one of the best non-league forums on the web where anything and everything gets discussed. There are some great contributors with excellent knowledge (Whitelaw & VP take a bow), some with good knowledge and valued common sense who help keep the peace, some that are just passionate and let their emotions run away with them at times especially late at night after a few and a couple of numb nuts that just enjoy getting people at it! Regardless of who fits into which category (you will soon work it out) they each make it an informative and addictive place to visit.

Glad you have returned and posted, Oh and just to do Smudge's job for him, don't forget to sign up for the Gold membership!

I'm flattered GP.

You're right in that it's nothing personal against the clubs. I feel the same way about Windsor as I do about all the other clubs that have done the same thing, except Farnborough of course, they'll always have a 'special' place in my heart.

I'm sure the new Windsor and their fans will bring some atmosphere (and a few quid!) to otherwise dull grounds and I hope they do well in the FA Vase and get the CCL a bit more recognition nationally.

I just don't think they, or any club, should be placed at step 5 unless there's a gap in the local step 5 league like Essex or Kent.

It's the same with Guildford and their ground. It's not necessarily about Guildford. I have some sympathy for them as the ground gradings can be stupid at times but I also think it's tough if they didn't get their ground ready in time. The same way I feel about other clubs this has happened to in the past across the country.

And also Old Farnboronians who one or two posters think I've had a go at on other threads. It's not them as a club I've got a problem with, it's the way some teams are allowed to jump two steps, others can't go up one because of a technicality. If it had been Wrecclesham, Abbey Rangers or Weston Green Sports my thoughts would have been the same.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

When Windsor got placed into the Combined Counties I was genuinely excited about the season ahead. I'd heard some great stories about this league. The last thing I expected was the tone of anger and hatred being thrown at us. When Windsor & Eton were wound up it was heart warming and touching to receive sincere best wishes from supporters of clubs we'd played against over many seasons. Some of those clubs could easily have reacted differently - Didcot Town for example who lost six points and were relegated as a result but no they wished us well. It just amazes me that teams that don't even know us are throwing so much anger at us. As supporters we pride ourselves on our dignity we have a fully operational supporters club we raise good sums for charity and do a lot of work for our local community and we've made huge numbers of friends throughout non league football. I for one was excited to be in the combined counties but if this is the welcome we can expect to receive then it's a big sour taste before the season has even begun.

You will get a good welcome at Horley Town,I remember visting your place a few times with Redhill always a friendly club. Welcome to the League, I am afraid there are a few on here who think they own the League and if you say or do anything outside of the box! they do not like it. The FA make the discisions, all you want is your Club to survive and start again. Good Luck to you all.

Thanks Carthorse. Us Windsor fans are just happy to have a team to watch next season. Obviously as a fan you want your team to play at the highest level possible (within reason) but we would have been happy whatever level we had been allocated to.

As has been said before the people involved at the club now were not responsible for the demise of WEFC. What happened over the last 18 months or so would make a great film one day, but people would think it too far-fetched.

Anyway we're looking forward to visiting some new grounds and re-visiting some old grounds from our Ryman league days.

Hopefully we can enjoy some good banter and debate on this forum over the coming months.

thanks Carthouse, we're excited to visit Horley, as with all the new grounds. Mrs Cat summed it up perfectly. We appreciate the welcome.

The Fan - I would say our average will be between 100-150. We don't get the biggest crowds, but we have a loyal following that supports the side both home and away no matter what the distance, we've taken good numbers to places like Vauxhall Motors (Liverpool) and Truro for Tuesday night away games in recent years, so we'll definitely look to bring a good following to most away games and everyone is looking forward to the new grounds.

We have an active supporters club www.windsorfcsupporters.co.uk and we are always up for pre-match games of darts etc before games etc so if any of the clubs in the league would like to get involved in any supporters games please don't hesitate to get in touch. And if any of you have young kids and come to see your teams at our home games, they'll enjoy meeting our Mascot Scotty the Stag!

We very much want to make friends in this league and enjoy the Combined Counties experience.

And we have just announced some pre-season friendlies, the first one at home (Stag Meadow) to Slough on 16th July. Guess we have the lease signed (or nearly) although I am waiting for the club to confirm. Having said that, still don't know who the manager/players will be??

I was talking to KS last week, and they are just waiting for ratification of the ground.

DFC have offered them a friendly if a convenient date can be arranged.
