DIVISION 1 Next Year.

Recommended Posts

Having recently played in the Aldershot & District Premier Division, I believe it is quite a big step up to the CCL1.

Not just in playing terms, but the admin side as well. However I'm sure Old Farnboronians are aware of this and I wish them good luck in their progression up the pyramid.

We're using the Cody Sports ground for our youth team next season (while we complete the floodlight installation process at our ground in Eversley). We have a meeting with all the other clubs using the facilities in a couple of weeks and I'll happily discuss our experiences in the CCL if this is of any help to Old Farnoronians.

Old Farnoronians have also applied to the Elite league and maybe elsewhere but I guess CCL would be their preference if they get in.

Farnborough North End have tentatively applied to come down from the CCL to the Elite as well.

The point I was trying to make was that Indian Gymkhana have been turned down due to not finishing high enough in their league despite finishing nearly a whole division higher than Old Farnboronians.

If Old Fb's had applied to the Wessex League I doubt they'd let them in without going through one of the Hampshire Leagues first but the CCL are viewing it differently. If that's the case then good luck to them but surely Indian Gymkhana should also be subject to a vote at the AGM as long as they've got the basic ground needed.

When bedfont sports where in the county league we had to finish top 3 to go up.we finish 4 the year before ground was done but wouldn't let us up because had to be top 3

To try to clarify this, Indian Gymkhana are currently members of the Middlesex County League, which is in the National League System at Step 7. For clubs to be promoted from a National System League at Step 7 they now have to finish in a top two position. Indian Gymkhana did not do that. In addition they were unable to tell us for certain where they intended to play were they to come into the CCL as by their own admission, their own ground does not meet the CCL minimum level of entry.

The League is trying to increase or at least maintain floodlit grounds within Division One. For one thing it might prevent a few of the moans when clubs are asked to play midweek games kicking off at 6.30 p.m. at the end of the season.

Old Farboronians, who lost just one league game all season, are currently members of The Aldershot League which is not in the national system and, therefore, officially, not at any particular step. Because there is no Step 7 league within our catchment area, clubs can come in at Step 6 level from outside the National System and that is what they have applied to do, with the backing of their present League. The Management Committee feels that, on balance, that having acquired a floodlit ground and bearing in mind that there may well be no relegation from the Premier Division, thus leaving Div 1 short, with three clubs having resigned, it is advantageous to recommend that their application be accepted. As with everything it is subject to FA approval

If there was a club with all the facilities who finished third in a Step 6 league, and thus could not come up, then yes, there is possibly an unfair aspect to it but the League can only deal with the realities of the situation and is trying to act in the interests of member clubs. The matter will though go to the vote and if the clubs do not accept the recommendation, then so be it.

aren't old Farnborians a team made up of players that couldn't get into FNE or am i mistaken ?

Its college leavers. Offers players a path into first team football.

isn't Alan Reid the manager he is ex FNE

Alan Reed is the manager but he never played for FNE!

He was at Farnham for a long time and Ash for a bit but never FNE. Heard he was a bit of player in his day but knee injuries cut his career down.

hmmm not gonna diss him but he played for a while in the Frimley Green reserve team when I managed the 1st team I think it was his brother Andy who played for Ash and I'm almost sure he tried out for FNE but didn't quite make it,lovely lad who is very keen and would probably make a good manager.
