Hornchurch Hammers?

Let me first state that I do not support West Ham and I know most of you don't and would want to be associated in any way. But, it must be worth a closer look if not for this season maybe next.

Despite all the grand efforts of everyone it is unlikely that the core would go above 400. With the goings on at West Ham and them leaving Upton Park, relegation and so on we could with the right organisation attract some of the disgruntled fans or at the least provide an alternative at least when West Ham are away. I could go on. Look at FC United of Manchester.

A bit radical perhaps but surely worth a thought.

A bit difficult this one, while on one hand it would undoubtably increase the gates if we offered cheaper entrance fees for west ham season ticket holders at say £3 for example,it could also annoy our own fans who will be paying £9-10 to watch their own side while someone who doesn't support the club gets in for a bit cheaper. Also,if you offer it to west ham fans then you should offer it to other fans, there are plenty of Arsenal, chelsea, scum, orient, qpr, united fans round here,it would be discriminating against them, and then,do you let dagenham fans in for a cheaper price.I think we may see a slight increase now they have been relegated as they will not be able to watch west ham in the local pubs on the foreign channels as they simply wont be on due to playing in the championship, saying all that,we do have a decent relationship with west ham as their youth team & womens team have used the bridge in the past and they do send a team down to us some years.

F C United of Manchester are just a bunch of thugs.

Sort of had my backing until i heard recent stories of damage they did to other grounds.

Even though i'm an Orient season ticket holder i will still buy a season ticket for next season.

I love Hornchurch from top to bottom, but can only be in one place at a time.

I wouldn't begrudge someone with a West Ham season ticket being charged a £5 to get in.

£5 more than we would have took, plus other spending within the ground.

With them being relegated, they should enjoy a more fruitful season next year, so i don't see it happening.

good point - how about season ticket holders gain entry for less? think this was done at some point last year tho?

Didnt barkingside come up with an idea that if you have a season tick from another club you can get in Barkingside cheaper than their own fans - hence letters of outrage to NLP. Not that many letters mand as not that many fans there.

The best of the lot was Bath City. If you are a foreigner you can get in cheaper than the English fans who watch them evry Saturday. They are doing a special offer one game next season based on colour and religion.

I think you are missing the point. My notion was to actually change to Hornchurch Hammers FC. As we are effectively in East London a percived connection with West Ham may be attractive to the fan base which a good proportion let's face it probably live within a five mile radius of The Bridge.

I can never really understand why people feel that season ticket holders from other clubs should be given a discount?

Should our own fans not be rewarded first, rather than some passing trade that might turn up for one game.

It's great that we can air our thoughts on the Forum. I can respect and understand your comments and that it seems a mad idea. However a better link or identification with the local community be it schools or whatever is needed. Remember if you do the same things youre likely to get the same result. Whatever is best for the club.

I had a very obviously tongue in cheek letter published in the Recorder a few years ago suggesting Romford change their name to Romford Hammers or Romford Hotspur to attract disgruntled supporters from whatever club we chose. I even suggested we change the clubs colours to those of whatever club we selected. The following week some of our supporters replied saying similar things that have been said on this thread.

The more I thought about it though it actually seemed like it might be a good idea, and since then I have been following the progress of FC of Manchester with a great deal of interest, and the idea just seems to get better and better.

Going back to the Hornchurch FC debate.

I know some people want the name AFC Hornchurch to remain, equally i think that some people want to go back to Hornchurch FC.

Whenever you talk to the majority of non fans, the impression i get from them is that they still think we are called Hornchurch FC.

Maybe (i doubt it) but some people may see the fixture of AFC Hornchurch and just not put the two together.

Not really decided about the name change to Hornchurch FC.

Pro's about going back

* Sounds more like a football club and may get more fans over the Bridge.

* Going back to our roots and reviving some history lost when the club went bust in 2005

Cons

* Under the name "AFCH" it has been one of the most succesful times in the clubs history

* We would have to change many signs around the ground/names on club merchandise/flag would need to be changed (this would surely cost quite a bit to the club)
