To help struggling non-league clubs at step 5 I believe we should play our matches on Sunday.Either 2.00 pm ko or 11.30 am.That certainly would boost the attendances, allowing people to work or do their own things on Saturday.Plus you won't have them players playing two games at the week-end,stopping them from playing Sunday League football which is where they get most of their injuries.Only an idea.Whatta do you thing chaps?Feedback please and who's for or against.coffee%20(2).gif

Dont forget many clubs hire their pitch to Sunday morning teams to bring in valuable income,Sunday matches at 2pm might bring in a few neutrals i guess,Coachie come to Gardiners Close on May 29th for Wybacks v Torrun Basildon and District Sunday League Cup Final, massive match cheers.

most ESL players outside of top four clubs tend to feel more loyalty to their Sunday teams than their Saturday team, sad but true.

Joe. ESL players cannot play for EOFL teams if they have played more than 4 first team games (at least I think thata how many games it is). Personally I think thats a load of old cr@p. what's the point of the EOFL league having ESL reserve sides in and not allowing them to play first team players. Isn't that part of what reserve sides are for, to play squad players and those coming back from injury?

Boycie, there is nothing to stop someone being registered for Basildon Utd and also being registered for Basildon Town. The clubs have no relationship so it is fair game.

In response to Enrico:

1) Players who want to play Sat and Sun will end up playing Saturdays for Olympian or "mates" teams meaning players will not only be playing 2 games but also playing their secondary game first!

2) Players will predominantly be out socialising Saturday night.

Not a good idea in my opinion.

Although this isnt related, this is something that I have never understood at ESL level.

At half time, the manager takes his side into the changing room and spends 15 minutes talking about where his side are doing well or in a lot of cases going wrong, the major threats of the other side and how they are going to win the game, claw themselves back into the game or hold on to the lead.

Meanwhile, the subs (The players who are potentially gonna make this happen for you) stay outside and ping a ball around (Usually booting it and some poor sod who's between the sticks for 15 minutes). Then after 10 minutes if things havnt changed the sub comes on with no idea of what has been discussed at half time..!!!

I know this happens at pro level, but they spend 3/4 days preparing for a game etc.......I just dont understand it.

Another thing that I will never understand is thoughs managers who name the side after the warm up, what is that about? Its ok for players who know that they will be 100% playing (Maybe 5/6 max) but the rest if the players spend the whole time in limbo. Then, to only find out that they are now playing left mid, after playing the last 10 games at up front or at right back....to add to this, the coach and players usually say things like "Oi minds on"...how can you get your mind on when you dont even know your playing.....and even if you know you are playing you need to prepare in a different way depending on the position your playing...madness...!!

Rant Over - This isnt directed at any manger but just what I have witnessed over the years...I could probably name another 10 things that are regularly done and dont make sense, yet managers and coaches are so passionate and commited but just over look so many little things that make the difference.

Stop being thick Smallsy. I did say "ESL Reserve" teams

There is no relevance to that though as Hookey was referring to being dual signed with another club. Therefore 'tis not me being thick my friend. Please feel free to apologies publically when you realise the error of your ways.

Rossco - most off topic rant I have seen! definitely a dig at ET!

Yeah sorry Boycie, Smallsy understood the point I was making, which was about players signing for two different clubs. You're right about ESL sides not being able to play first teamers in their ressie side. Though I think the rule was designed to stop a complete first team being played for the ressies.

TIC, yeah off topic but great points made.
