Windsor dreamland

Recommended Posts

Just been on Windsors site and it looks that they are dreaming up plans even madder than Martyn Deaners follys.

Grand plans before even the tennancy has been secured, and to build on a crown site.

To top it off they have secured funding for their shirts from a charity who care for terminally ill young people - as my family give to this charity I am disturbed to see it being wasted on a club that has had, and now appears still to have little understanding of financial competancy.

Staines Rebel, I have been a corporate sponsor of Helen and Douglas House for a number of years. After speaking to my contacts in the fund raising department they said they were keen to raise their profile in the Windsor area. I offered to pay PERSONALLY for them to sponsor Windsor FC over the next few years, so this sponsorship is not costing the charity a single penny. I hope that meets with your approval.

Thank you Uncle F, as I would hate to see monies raised for Helen & Douglas house not going to the cause it was intended.

Both my mother and wife have given funds to Helen and Douglas house through GAYE and Cookham Handbell Ringers.

I hope Windsor FC will be having events to raise funds for this very good cause.

In reply to Staines Rebel's post - Why do Windsor have 'little understanding of financial competancy'?

If you have actually read the statement on the official website it reads - "Our objective is to create an entirely different business model that will allow Windsor FC to become self-sustaining over time using a 'Social Enterprise' business model"

Building a new stand to incorporate a Gym, Bar/catering facilities and also 3G Pitches will be that revenue stream which the club has never had in the past. OK, It costs money to set up but if that funding is there then so be it. Re-building the club on the same structure was never going to work as it proved last year, so surely these steps are to prevent this and to sustain the club moving forward?

It's very easy to criticise, but if someone (Kevin Stott) is prepared to fund this at the benefit of the town having a football club and also community facilities then I say fair play to them.

Im sure Mr Stott is fully aware of what needs to be done, and from drawing up these plans has shown his commitment and confidence in all of the above being approved. For me this is a step forward for a local non league club and for that Mr Stott and everyone connected with this project deserves some praise.

Every silver lining has a cloud for you Staines Rebel. What has been achieved in three months is nothing short of amazing. The lease has been agreed in principle and if you think these things are quick you have obviously never bought a house. As to your other assumptions, the funding is already in place and the FA have worked out what league we are in, look in the press on Friday.

Considering you have accused people like me who had no involvement with Windsor & Eton of having little understanding of financial competence are you now suggesting that we should have applied for planning permission before we have the lease in place? Also where does it say we have would have planning permission in place by the end of the week? If you want a precedent for development on Crown Land have a look at Ascot racecourse.

I cant see why any Slough fans should be looking for problems ahead for Windsor ? have we not been through enough of our own ? surely it is best that they get going again and get back to the level they were at and we get back to where we should be , Slough ! , lets hope in the not too distant future we will look forward to welcoming Windsor to our new ground and we will have derby games back !

Here, here. I agree with "The Lawrence Years"

I am delighted that Windsor are back up and running and wish them well for the future.

Surely we should be supporting our fellow non-league teams

I'm sure that they've got all the appropriate plans in place

The scheme looks exciting

and I agree as well!!!

No one likes a team to fold and good luck to them, but apart from when we play them I have no interest in Windsor at all.

The question was asked and properly answered so end of story please.

I think his point was why on earth were things so bad when thay had all this money to throw at it?

How can a club fold due to an unpaid £240,000 tax bill in February, yet by May, they supposedly have the money for 3G pitches, a new stand & a gym?
