That's a good point Mental, of course both America and Russia had ex-Nazi (if there is such a thing as an "ex-nazi") scientists working for them too, from what I recall on their rocketry programs. I wonder what the Irish needed them for. Growing more potatoes maybe.

Strange to me that no one mentions the criminals from the so called more respectable religions, who encourage the killing of those who follow a different religion, either by turning a blind eye, or by open encouragement. I honestly believe that the old Soviet Union had the right idea by banning all religious expression.

Let's face it,Ireland a staunch catholic country harboured Nazi war criminals well into the 1980's and the catholic church was heavily involved in this.So I would hardly say they was Jew friendly

Eires support for the Nazis throughout the second world war was indeed shameful but that of course will never stop them adopting the high moral ground when they deal with the UK. one day we really need to call Eires bluff and offer them back the six counties, i wonder how keen they would be to take on over a million unemployed sectarian nutcases.

Werner Von Braun may the chap you are referring too.

Developed the V1 (Doodlebug), then the V.2.

After the war, went to America and was responsible for putting a Saturn 5 rocket on the moon. Tiger changing it's spots ????

.... and on the subject of Nazi loot..... I think you'll find the 'Gnomes of Zurich' 'looked-after' millions of gold bits and pieces for the Jerries !

Rhodesly - That suit of yours is getting a bit threadbare isn't it? That chip of yours is showing through the shoulder padding.

Best you get yourself off to Oxfam, see if you can get some replacement threads.

your ignorance on these matters is quite startling

Loosely - Basil-Don is spot on and it's the same on numerous other threads that you involve yourself in!

Oh Cliffy, why do you feel the need to keep interfering in worthwhile discussions. There's no shame in learning from other posters knowledge, why don't you try it for a change?

or perhaps because many of my fathers relatives and friends suffered terribly at the hands of the Nazis and some died in concentration and labour camps.

LATO - I'm genuinely sorry to hear that but what has it got to do with John Demjanjuk

Nothing...just trying to work out why my reply was so important to you in this thread.

Ever read Broken Wings by John Clive a novel based on facts regarding aircrew of both sides shot down over Ireland in WW2. And of course Jack Higgins relates to the IRA connections with the Abwehr (German Military intelligence) in The Eagle Has Landed/The Eagle Has Flown.

I reckon we have offered the Six Counties to Eire in the past- they're not daft enough to take them though!

  • 9 months later...

I see that John Demjanjuk who, as highlighted earlier in this thread, allegedly assisted in the murder of 28,060 Jews during the Second World War, has passed away in a Bavarian old people's home, aged 91. Ukranian born Demjanjuk's son, John, 46, insisted that his beloved Father was actually a 'victim' of the war and added 'history will show that Germany used him as a scapegoat'. RIP.
