John Demjanjuk

Recommended Posts

I see that alleged Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk has been found guilty of war crimes during the Second World War however there has to be serious doubts that the 91 year old wheelchair bound Ukranian is guilty as charged. Demjanjuk supposedly served six months at the Sobibor concentration camp in Poland in 1943 where 250,000 Jews were exterminated however he claims that he was never a guard and was infact a prisoner himself, Demjanjuk has already been wrongly convicted after being mistakenly identified as infamous guard Ivan the Terrible and was released following an appeal.

Whatever the truth is, it seems a bit too long after the event to pursue this matter.

What are they going to do ? Sentence a a man in his 90's to life ?

Big J R - I couldn't agree with you more although I wouldn't be surprised if LATO comes on and disagrees

Agree its rediculous to give a man in his 90s a long sentence, but the victims and their families also deserve justice.

To be honest,60 odd years later it shouldn't be dragged out anymore, except to teach people a lesson of how easily this sort of thing can happen. There would probably not be any way of actually proving any guilt for this man seeing as 99.9% of people around at the time will probably be dead by now, either in the camp or the years preceeding them

I'm surprised that LATO hasn't commented on this thread as yet

Why..because of its Eastern European content or is it because Sobibor is in Poland.

or perhaps because many of my fathers relatives and friends suffered terribly at the hands of the Nazis and some died in concentration and labour camps.

LATO - I'm genuinely sorry to hear that but what has it got to do with John Demjanjuk

It might be because the saintly Demjanjuk has been found guilty of horrendous war crimes.

While i recognise the fact that the Polish people did indeed suffer at the hands of the Nazis it should be remember that Poles along with other Eastern European Catholics were very anti semitic and most couldnt wait to unleash terrible atrocities against their local Jewish population, the Catholic Church of course never spoke out against the Third Reich to them it was pay back time,a chance to avenge the killing of their 'Lord'.

Tender little morsel on the hook there Basil-Don, just to set you straight nearly 500 jewish people were hidden in the Vatican during the war, another 4,000 odd hidden in convents and monasteries. Pope Pius didn't speak out publicly, one of his Arch-Bishops (Utrecht - I think) had tried that and the Nazi response was to round up more jewish people and included "non-aryan" catholics from Holland to be sent to the death camps. After the war Pope Pius was recognised as a friend of the Jewish people and also an emotional eulogy from Golda Meir to the United Nations.

Not that its got much to do with the topic John Demjanjuk.

I think you will find that the Catholic Church welcomed the rise of National Socialism mainly because it feared a Communist revolution more but to suggest that the Roman Catholic Church isnt anti -semitic is mindblowing.

'The Roman Catholic shrine of Fatima in Portugal has confirmed that it held bars of German Nazi gold until the mid-1980s.

Its disclosure comes 10 days before Pope John Paul is due to visit Fatima, one of Catholicism's most revered sites.

Officials said the sanctuary asked a Portuguese bank in 1970 to melt some of its gold, and when it received the equivalent in bars, it discovered Nazi insignia on some of them. The bars were sold between 1982 and 1986 to finance building work at Fatima, which attracts pilgrims from around the world.'

They were a very naughty Roman Catholic Shrine then. I'm sure you know much more than I do about this incident, I wouldn't be surprised if there were others.

Isn't Pope John Paul dead? I thought the current Pope is Pope Benedict the umpteen.

Who knows how these bars came into their possession? Do you have any links to further information?

err doesnt the Vatican still possess a vast amount of Nazi gold? i find it almost as incredible that this is news to you as the fact that you didnt realise that the Roman Catholic Church is a anti semitic organisation you will be telling me next that you had no idea that the Ku Klux Klan is hostile to blacks.

I had absolutely no idea that they have vast amounts of Nazi Gold. Exactly how much do they have and where do they keep it? I certainly did not know that the Roman Catholic Church is anti-semitic, do you have any links to any of their websites or copies of their literature that states this as I would have thought that would be a huge negative for them.

I can confirm that I have very little knowledge about the Ku Klux Klan but I'll keep my eyes open now.

Any news on more information about the Roman Catholic Shrine at Fatima Nazi Gold?

fecking stroll on! your ignorance on these matters is quite startling, before i continue to educate you further allow me to point out that i have no particular hatred for Catholics and i despise the Protestant Church almost as much.Anyway some more facts about the Christians and their faith.

Scientists rarely find universal agreement on anything but one thing which they all recognise as a fact is evolution, Christians still believe in Creationism.

Catholics actually believe that Mary rumoured to be the mother of Jesus was a Virgin while all historical evidence points to the fact that she was a prostitute.

Christians on the whole tend to be very insensitive individuals,if a Christian survives a car crash he will probably say that 'God saved him', at no time will the Christian consider this an offensive remark to anyone who has had a loved one die in a car crash.

Christians believe that theres a God who resides in heaven according to Catholics he tends to spends most of his time checking whether young boys are masturbating or not,if they are caught then they are sentenced to spend eternally in Hell.

Christians believe that a man actually parted the Red Sea,even more surreal is their belief in angels who fly around using their wings, such beliefs of course are a sympton of mental illness.

Catholics believe in the concept of 'original sin' basically this equates to the belief that every human being including a new born baby is full of sin and that our lifes on earth are of no value whatsoever.

Anything else that you need to know please dont hesitate to ask.

Well to be honest I was still hoping for some more facts on the "Fatima Nazi Gold", how much nazi gold the Vatican has exactly and where they keep it, a bit of factual evidence (not anecdotal) on the Roman Catholic Church being anti semitic. Let me know when theres any progress.

Glad to get your take on christianity, not sure what it has to do with John Demjanjuk though, I do hope that paragon of the forums Cliff Rhodes doesn't chastise us too much for going off topic.

That's a good point Mental, of course both America and Russia had ex-Nazi (if there is such a thing as an "ex-nazi") scientists working for them too, from what I recall on their rocketry programs. I wonder what the Irish needed them for. Growing more potatoes maybe.
