Hi all you Town supporters! Long time no post..... Hope you are all well and enjoying your football. I didn't get down to see any Town games this season, but the Invisible Young Man went to quite a few and gave me reports. It seems to have been a funny old season, alternating between poor and promising! Rather similar stories for Spurs and Brighouse Town!

I have bored you all before with tales of my local Northern Counties East Premier Division club, Brighouse Town. In only our second season in the NCEL First Div, promotion was won, and this season, our first in the Prem, we had a very bright start and were top around Christmas. A combination of factors meant that this couldn't be sustained however, including the inevitable poaching of players combined with a plague of injuries and lay-offs due to weather. This meant a horrific run of defeats, and despite a turn around near the end as players returned from injury the final position was 16th. We would probably have settled for that before the season started! In addition, some nice people burned the stand down - well ok, the three Portakabins that serve as tea bar, officials entertaining room etc (the changing rooms are a seperate brick building). The rest of the ground is gradually coming along.

Glad to see the QE is progressing and will be open next season. In truth though, what will it really look like? It sounds like a horrific bodge, to be honest! Or is this like saying "Jehovah" and I'm in for a stoning?

It looks great already to be honest now the outside of the building has been repaired & repainted. By the time the inside has been done & we've got our stands & floodlights in place it will be FANTASTIC.

We had a few visitors yesterday & they were all impressed by what has been done so far.

I can agree with Arkwright as I called in on my way to a game and it looked very impressive plus what is going to be done over next couple of months by the hard working work party is easier to visualise when you're there.

Well done and thanks to those that are getting it all done for us.

Agree with Arkwright and Mbruno.

Plus the playing surface will be a lot better, Brimsdown has served it's purpose and would'nt look out of place as a new residential housing plot as it goes.

Moving to QE is gonna move us into the direction we all want to see us going. Can't wait.

Well, that's all good news then! I had rather got the impression that there were going to be moveable stands or some kind of demountable stadium, to allow the running track and central space to be cleared for use by other sports. It's a pity the plans on the website couldn't be updated. My spies have told me that pitch at Brimmo is dreadful now.

Right, I am half hoping to get down for the first game in our new home, but it's difficult with work and everything.

Here's to promotion to celebrate the new ground!
