Stepping down as manager.

Recommended Posts

Yesterday morning I stepped down as Warlingham manager. I felt as though after two years in charge I had taken Warlingham to the next level in terms of their ability and resources but at the same time felt that the main aim this season was promotion and with us finishing 5th that we didnt really fulfill our potential and that really is down to me. We had a fantastic start to the season and a great fa vase run but our poor form in january really did cost us. I also have a 16 month old boy who I have barely seen grow up and that has also been a major factor in my decision. I leave warlingham in a far better and stronger position than when I took over. The whole first team management set up will also step down as we feel that a new input of fresh faces and ideas is what is required to continue to push Warlingham football club forward. I would like to thank all the players for their efforts and wish Warlingham football club a bright and successful future.

Tucks! I'm suprised to see this and thought you'd built a great team at Wars!! Sad to see you go, but hopefully you'll be back right? You still owe me a drink (you don't really but worth a try )

Wattsy the one thing that has been driving me mad is the fantastic group of young players I had assembled this season and how hard it was going to be to leave that group behind. It was hard enough coming back into management last season and starting from scratch and i have been very lucky with the players I have managed to get to play for me. The likes of Miles, Brunt, Felix dean, Rideout, the cecil brothers in fact every player this season has been fantastic and I have been fortunate that they were loyal to me. No doubt I will be back in management soon and hopefuly work with some of these players again.

For those who don't know on here when there were issues with me earlier in the year Tucks contacted me not to try and get something off me or anything like that but to simply help me out and advise me on the best way to sort the situation out and to find an ending to everything. He spent weeks selflessly working hard to try and secure my release, taking all the heat out the situation and eventually when the oppotunity to sign me came up he did. He didn't need me and in no way had to sign me but did it simply to help another guy out and for that I had total respect for him and this was all before I met him.

I've had the best time at Wars and even got a few extra CCL1 games under my belt which is just a bonus and in my short time there I feel i've come a long way from my first game there.

So cheers Tucks for everything, good luck in whatever you do next and i'm sure i'll see you about soon if not i'll bash you on the golf course ;)

Im in the same boat as Whitby, was taken in by Tucks when I moved to the area and needed a club, plus somewhere to train because of the rehabilitation for my ankle. Didnt have to, had a solid defence with the best defensive record in the league, but signed me up and was lucky enough to play every game since. Thank you Christopher, good luck.

Tucks has told you all lies he is only giving up at Warlingham to spend more time on the golf course. After the beating he took on Saturday i dont blame him!

Hopefully next time we play Tucks it might be closer. dance%20(2).gif

All the best Tucks you will be missed! x
