Stringer Leaves Braintree

I'm predicting a few car-themed songs from the opposition fans in the Conference Premier next year.

Ullo John Got A New Motor © JL

I like driving in my car, it's not quite a jaguar

Beatles - Baby You Can Drive My Car

etc

But it's too late and my brain hurts.

I've been following this over the past few days, I've read all the press reports (lots of fresh ones today with comments from both Rod Stringer and the club) and listened to the two interviews. And I just find it all so bizarre.

Both sides press releases agree as to why Stringer walked, and both sides agree on the budget figures being quoted, (3k last season and 5.5k pw for the coming season) and although I've not seen the car figure confirmed by the club, I would assume Rod's figure of 4k was correct.

Braintree had a good Manager who has proven he can build a winning side, they had a Manager who has taken them to new heights, the most successful manager they have ever had.

Rod moved from Aveley to Braintree and won the conference South, he had an opportunity to manage a side in the conference National, he would have been rubbing shoulders with some of the country's top Managers and players, and he had an opportunity to test himself at a level most Managers can only dream of.

Yet they were both willing to throw it all away because of ego's!!!!

totally bizarre

btw, I wouldn't normally comment on this kind of subject but it's all in the public domain, and one of the Braintree directors broke the news on the Chelmsford forum before it was announced on their own, which was also strange, I thought.

Football eh, it never ceases to amaze

Amazing !

My manager told me last week that the only stumbling block was the car !

Rod has a CL personally, So its not like he should worry about a Toyota runaround !

Does seem like there is something missing in this story ?

The stubboness, the arrogance, the manor in which the negotiations were conducted, would be my guess.

Barry breaking the news on the Chelmsford forum is pretty strange you have to admit.

and now it's a bit of a cat fight. but all that aside, I can;t help thinking both parties have made a mistake.

Or could it be that this argument (from the outsiders appears to be an inconsequential disagreement) is really the simple excuse needed to walk , "if" another club had already made him a far higher offer. The manager can walk away knowing he will still smell sweet in the media eye. Will be interesting to see where he turns up and how many of those players suddenly go with him .

I personally think there is more than meets the eye here .
