Guernsey F.C.

Recommended Posts

With the impending inclusion of Guernsey F.C. in the C.C.L.,would be interesting to know,if any Premier Clubs have had the foresight to invite them over for a Pre-Season Friendly.Or in reverse any Clubs have been invited over their for the same.Would show goodwill on both sides, and maybe begin a bonding process.Maybe Mark Le Tissier has missed a trick if he has not,and likewise the C.C.L. League.

Why a Prem club, Smudgy ?

Surely they will go into Div 1.

It's a good thought, though !

TBH, I'm surprised that Guernsey are trying to get into the CCL, which is for teams from the south and west of London.

Isn't the Wessex League the nearest non-league to them? Or had they previously said no to them joining?

That's like the Isle of Man applying to be in the Scottish non league!

Can you still get a full team + officials on one of those German flying-pencils ? Or have they been discarded now ?

They looked and sounded like a doodlebug with passengers !

It will come as a big surprise to you BJR that the Germans have actually gone home and taken their toys with them. Although your teams will have to peddle like mad to make the propellors turn to get you across the channel we see this as an ideal warm up to a game and once your flying pencil/hot air balloon lands on our rock you can look forward to a leisurely horse and cart trip to one of our veg patches to play the game.

Just so you are totally up to date, without meaning to be flash, we even have telephones and electricity now and by this time next year we hope to have television and fresh running water in our tents although we dont want to get too excited or over exaggerate our plight

DFC did indeed offer an invite to Guernsey FC.

We received a very plesant reply, declining our offer for the coming season.

Guernsey received many offers of a friendly game, and have had to pick the ones they want from quite a long list.

Be interesting to see if any Pre- Season Friendlies include Trips to any Clubs further than Hampshire. This beggars the Question, why they did not apply to a League around that Area.I still personally think that they should of offered a Friendly to at least Horley Town, reason nearest to Gatwick, and going to be a Hub for Parking for all C.C.L. Teams.Which as was previously stated will save C.C.L. Clubs a tidy packet, over Gatwick Parking Fees, which have just risen again.Still think that C.C.L. Clubs are like 'Turkey's voting for Christmas'with this Venture,NO GAIN,ALL PAIN,and to liken them to A.F.C. Wimbledon is a disgrace, they will bring few Fans mark my words. All for a 2 day trip to GUERNSEY?spratt to catch a Mackerel !!!!!!!!! VOTE AGAINST.

No - I have seen the correspondence and it would appear they will be confirming their choice in the near future.

Smudge one minute you are full of priase and looking forward to playing in/against Guernsey and the next you are shouting 'vote against'. What is your problem? I have read loads of threads on here and you seem to continue to be as controversial as you possibly can, you are more erratic than my missus. How do you know what we will bring in the way of fans? For everyone's sake either back Guernsey or slag Guernsey but get it done and stick to your choosen point of view. I have only just started monitoring this site and I have had enough of you, god knows how everyone else has put up with you for so long.

Guernsey are competing in the Island Games this Summer in the Isle of Wight. That is the reason they are struggling to fit in pre-season freindlies

Guernsey Guru,no one takes a blind bit of notice of what I say on here,so the Island games are more important in your Football World than striking up a relationship with C.C.L. Clubs by offering or taking the chance of a Pre-Season Friendly. This in my opinion would of served 2 purposes, firstly to find any snags that need to be ironed out, before the Season starts, secondly build a bond.It is mentioned in your press that around 40 Players will be used by you,and as your Squad for the Island Games is 18 Players, that leaves a surplus of 22.Could you not of used these Players. You see I look at the larger picture, when the offer looks to good, it usually is,and Guernsey F.C. have missed a big P.R. Opportunity.Reading the Guernsey Press tells me all I want to know about Guernsey,Dear Food,Poor roads,Broken down Buses, and No Sunday Shopping, unlike what many believe will be a trip of a lifetime.just a stepping stone to better things for you,on your way up the ladder. But you are lucky as I have said 'NO ONE TAKES ANY NOTICE OF ME'
