Lets face it NG - Whitley Bay are really a Step 4 (and a very good one at that) side who have regularly declined the prospect of football at the next level due, presumably to there being no real financial advantage up there in the North, Their costs would escalate and there would be far fewer local derbies if they accepted promotion. They (and others like Spennymoor) have become very big fish in a small pond and it really isn't surprising that they continue to do well.

 

It is a fine achievement though - Coalville by all accounts were the better side. I wonder if the FA might invite Whitley Bay into the Trophy next season?

MAYBE TRUE GF BUT WHY GO UP A LEAGUE IF WHITLEY CANNOT AFFORD IT, THAT WOULD BE BAD MANAGEMENT. LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF CLUBS GOING TO HIGHER LEVELS AND SUBSEQUENTLY BECOME CASH STRAPPED. NEVERTHELESS, THEY ONLY FINISHED THIRD IN THEIR LEAGUE SO NOT AN ISSUE BUT I CAN SEE YOUR POINT ABOUT BEING A BIG FISH IN A SMALL POND. HAVING SAID ALL THAT, THE £15000.00 WINNERS PRIZE MONEY FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS IS FINE, BUT NOWADAYS WHAT DOES THIS BRING YOU ? PROBABLY COVERS PART OF THE SEASONS WAGES ?

 

IN ADDITION, I'M NOT TOO SURE BOTH TEAMS GET PART OF THE GATE MONEY AT WEMBLEY............... I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SO GF? IRRESPECTIVE, STILL A GOOD ACHIEVEMNT TO BE IN 3 SUCCESSIVE FINALS. HOW MANY GAMES IS THAT UNBEATEN IN THE VASE !

We should have beaten them especially at home-the last two minutes of extra time will go with me to my grave with those two chances and we led at their place and missed an open goal!

 

They are a great club though, great support and full of Step 3 players really. They played two Conference South sides a couple of years ago and were the better team in both games.

 

Really please Gibbo got on the hallowed turf if only for stoppage time as he had only just returned from injury

CHERTSEYTOWN, ALL THE MAYBE'S, IF ONLY'S, BUT'S, UNLUCKY'S,..... BUT YOU DIDN'T UNFORTUNATELY, MANY TEAMS SAY THIS BUT IN FAIRNESS THEY REACHED THE FINAL YET AGAIN.......! SO NEAR, YET SO FAR ! IF THEY HAVE STEP 3 PLAYERS HENCE THEIR WAGE BUDGET, THE £45000 PRIZE MONEY WARNED OVER THE LAST 3 SEASONS WILL HELP GO TOWARDS THEIR PLAYERS BUDGET ONE WOULD ASSUME ALONG WITH THEIR GREAT SUPPORT ALL LEADS TOWARDS A SUCCESSFUL CLUB.........?
