Quite bizarre to see that David Bowie spent time in a couple of local bands!

I must admit, the only band listed on there that I have seen are the Killer Rabbits. I even still have their album, Dodgy Derek's Desert Drive-in Dunk-a-Doughnut Stand, still in the attic somewhere!

Never gets boring hearing The Who mentioned here. The brilliant 'who are you' banter never fails to amuse either. Amazing that out of several hundred Margate fans only one is really keen on a particular band. How do other fans who like a group ensure that the bands songs get played over the tannoy every single week ? Couldn't see a link on the club website.

I remember seeing Gizmo once or twice - possibly in The Ship

The Who also performed at Dreamland on Aug 25, 1966 and Aug 12, 1965

Then allow me to answer.

Firstly if you go to Hartsdown Park you will of course notice that not only does my Company sponsers the Tracksuits, but we also sponsor the PA, and as part f the multi million pound deal we request that a Who number be played at every Home Game.

If we continue next season we will alternate beyween other groups such as Floyd/Queen etc, and maybe Gizmo & The Pink fairies.

Secondly, maybe its becausei'm an honest descent bloke, who enjoys bringing a smile to peoples faces.

life is for living,a simple smile, a simple hello, a simple chat from a simple person..

Did The Who ever play at Broadstairs Grand Ballroom when they were The Detours?

While you're on Kent gigs site scroll down to the bottom and find The Orbit Four - popular Margate group of the early 60's.

Where was the Dumpton Club Gary? I live in Dumpton and cannot picture where it may have been, other than around the old greyhound track.
